they usually have a steady 'live band', though it keeps changing. and some of the members of this band have input in the NIN records, such as alessandro cortini and robin finck

Oh man my fav's are Better Than Ezra, InMe, Lifehouse, Ben Folds Five.

Theres Keane as well, Hot Hot Heat (I think) and technically Goo Goo Dolls.

Ben Folds Five is crazy good right =) ben fold's solo stuff is better though -- he's still touring the US -- last summer with John Mayer. Good taste you have.
