On top of that, I wld quote a local piece : Ronin - Hail to the God of Rock & Roll :supz:

YES. *grin*

to blueark: try not to be so disparaging of my generation, yes yes? most of us know that westlife did not write songs they covered, and *Gasp* some of us actually prefer the originals! Yesterday by Boyz II Men? hm. maybe if Boyz II Men were John, Paul, Ringo and George. Most of us actually know our music better than you think we do.
As for Rock and Roll in the traditional sense, this isn't a 'define the genre' thread, now, is it? I believe the intention appears to have been simply a chance for everyone to share their favourite songs, and chat a little, not slam the generation of today.
and old farts generally don't claim to know the younger generation enough to generalise about them.

Rock 'N' Roll Suicide
by David Bowie

i happened to... erm, have a flashback of seeing the name of the song because I was reading a book entitled Rock 'n' Roll Suicide too.

lol, realised...
*mummy had a chicken, mummy had a cow, dad was proud, he didn't care how...*
okay no more cartoon network for me.

uhm. really? oh dear. I thought mine counted. hmm let's have another one. Does Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin count? Heh.

Guns N'Roses! don't think anyone's mentioned them yet. are they counted as rock and roll? what's the difference between rock and roll and rock?

not really. what I mean is, that kind of music is usually endemic to the 60s and early 70s. Like Chuck Berry and Elvis, like I said earlier.
You know the part in the film Back to the Future where Michael J Fox got on a stage and played guitar? That style of music is rock n roll.

haha actually it's ok la. I'm not fond of classifying music. Leave that to that critics and self-proclaimed experts.
