I'm going to be honest here. Take my advice if you want to improve.
Get the tempo right. Get a drum loop or something. And play it slowly. I'm guessing you're at 110++. Try 90/95.
Pitching can be improved by about 15%.
You've got good air. But don't put it so heavily on every note. You sound like you're recording to impress. But I bet if you relax and don't think too much about it, you'll be fine.
Do not rush your phrases. You're the one controlling the music. Let your singing follow what you play. Not the other way around.
Get the lyrics right.
Last, get your pronunciation perfect. Seriously. Listen to how caucasians speak. Words to take note: (I'm also Malay. So i know what you're going through.)
- 'felt' sounds like 'falt'. should be 'faylt'
- 'tried to be chill' sounds like 'tried choo be chill'. don't put too much stress on 't'.
- 'through' sounds like 'troo'. practice putting tongue at bottom of front teeth. arabic "tsa" then 'ru'. so its 'ts-ru'
- 'the' sounds like 'der'. same as above.
- 'nothing' sounds like 'nahtink'. same as above.
Do a relaxed recording for me and email it to me, or put it on youtube then pm me. I no longer frequent these forums, but i'll help if i see potential.
Just so I don't get flamed, this is my recording of the same song:
I\'m yours_Soft.mp3
(Edit: Ok i just realized i screwed up the last bit.

)
