My Son's Epiphone LPC - Alpine White... shifty ????

My son traded his Ibanez AF75 for an acoustic guitar and this Epiphone LPC white with another softIes, but when we wanted to send it to the shop for set-up, 2 out of 3 shops told me that his LPC looks shifty. The previous owner claimed its MIK in 2005(s/no checked), and claimed that MIK (Saein) at that time lacked of QC from Gibson so some of the standard look a bot off (???). I have send email to Gibson and awaiting for confirmation.

My son is only 13, and is still growing in his guitar interest and skill which he started a year ago. We've had Gibbies and fender etc. before, but this time he really likes the feel of this guitar. In his own words - it really feels good in his hands.

He decided to keep it and instead upgraded both pick-ups to BAREKNUCKLE MULE....

Though my son accepted the guitar in whatever the status is and lives with it.... As a dad I am still in my curiousity. I know that I learnt from the Seniors' that most important in having a guitar is how you feel. However I will greatly appreciate if you can give one or two pointers....

But, being a non-guitar player..... but a rock lover... I vowed that BAREKNUCKLE indeed AWESOME :)

Thanks and Gong Xi Fa Cai to those celebrating.... :)

Cheers

Hey there.. To be honest, its the first time I've heard of such comments about the MIK Epis. Been active over at the MyLesPaul forums and I think some of them can vouch that the MIK actually did have a pretty good guitars.

From first look, the only thing that looked off would be that the control pots looks to be abit skewed BUT that can be because of the angle. Any shot of the back serial?? The serials if you checked online it could have checked out ok, BUT the fake guitars have been known to have copied serials and the website isn't accurate anyways.

A closer shot of the headstock in better quality would help.

Lots of info on fakes there...

Sorry man.. with that font, I'd say its a fake. Epis S/N fonts are quite consistent and small but that font is really way off..

It's totally fake. The knobs are skewed, pickguard wrong, neck head joint uneven among other things. But if your son like it, it won't matter much, just that it's close to impossible to re-sell.

Yeah. . . Probably d BAREKNUCKLE set we installed pleased him. . . He is saving up for a Gibby Studio. . . Till then let him trash d guitar. I ll ask him to be extra careful mext time :(

Thanks n cheers. . .

Will do so soon.... tq

Hope this helps you... this is my epi.
Most probably, your son's guitar is the copy from China which was posted by another softie where we commented for inconsitencies but the posted still insisted as MIK.
See our S/N, only 4 guitars away! haha but so damn different.

TS: The epiphone fonts are off aligned... Even if its an epiphone, QC will not go off by that far.
Very high chance that this LPC is not legit.
Google the serial.. U'll be surprised

Indeed.... as the post mentioned, which I found out after my son already traded off his guitar.....
I didnt tell my son the truth as he liked d feel of the guitar the moment he laid his hands on it.... I just didnt wanna break his heart, dats why I supported him changing both pick ups to BAREKNUCKLES.... (or probably he already knew?)

I asked him to just do more project on the guitar since he likes it... next week he will installed push/pull and I am looking for a bigsby... I cant sell it might as well treat it as project guitar....

Ikhlas.... Acceptance.... its the virtue here.....

thanks Guys... cheers

When I'm 13, my dad bought for me my first electric guitar and amp from Davis. It's retired now and in pretty bad shape. But both guitar and amp will not be sold. I'm 28 now and it's just great to have a supportive dad.

No point being angry at the seller now too so ikhlaskan je lol...

You are a great dad.
What done is done.
thumbs up!

why isn't our local Epiphone expert MockingBird here?

Here I am! Sorry I've been busy working OT lately. Haven't been checking out new threads here. Anyways, pls lah, don't call me an expert! I'm nowhere near that level! I'm just an Epiphone and BC Rich guitar lover!

Harist13, sorry mate. But I call fake on that guitar. I remember I posted on that sales thread started by Mark Yee. That seller said he had checked the serial number or something. Did you buy this from him?

Yes indeed... he responsed to my son ads and offer this guitar and another acoustic to trade with ibanez... I only realized his post a few days later.....

ANYWAY.... after this post yet someone still sms me and offered $100/- for the guitar... lol (cheapo) But I am not selling it as I gonna let my son do experiment with it..... bareknuckle done, next is push/pull then bigsby.... and when he got bored, i gonna bare-sand it and use it as my living room deco...

Thanks guys....

I see... Well, a good guitar is a good guitar, fake or genuine. Of course, we must not go around promoting fakes. And if we're to sell a fake (or replica, whatever), just be upfront. I've seen a few fakes around in SOFT. When I inform the seller that theirs is a fake (in a nice manner, of course), they won't accept it and brush my claims aside. Most hurting is when they think I'm trying to be a smart-ass. So much for being nice eh! However, some people are willing to accept a fake, if the price is right. Personally I wouldn't mind a fake, so long as it plays well and the truss rod is working. Some fakes are known to have a unusable truss rod.

For your case - lesson learned. Seems like your son is happy with it. That's a plus point regardless of the authenticity of the guitar.

Cheers.

...got a new lease of life...
