Hey ppl

my fender acoustic is now unusable cause someone sat on it and the headstock broke.
I think it's unrepairable yea
and anyone knows if I can sell the body or something? To a shop or whatsoever
thankssssss

But it's quite bad cause some wood from behind the fretboard came off also,so I think I needa replace the entire fretboard which is gonna cost quite a bit....
Anyway, how much will it cost, like roughly?
Thanks

you can take a pic of it & put it up for sale/ those of us who see the remaining useful parts would consider our offers to you...

You might as well get a Samick or Maestro Laminate, brand new. Or even some Yamaha stuff.
But if you do wanna repair it, Malcolm Tan does it definitely. But damn, it's way over the quoted 200. I think broken headstock alone costs around there. You can check his website at www.mtlutherie.com

Why settle for Laminate woods when you can get a solid top for just abit more? Custom Acoustics plox :D

Never heard of an acoustic guitar that was part-castered :/ is it possible?

True, but i started off with a laminate. It sounded great (Maestro's) and was damn easy to maintain. My current Maestro solid top has to be kept in a hsc with lots of silica gel, regularly dehumidified...

Hahah wanna try? The guitar's up for sale in the buy/sell already. I wouldn't mind pastcastering one but damn, it'd be hard. Harder than all me crappy strats.

Honestly, i've never had any problems with my solidtop only that its scratched like nobody's business. It sounds great and seasoned, kept in just a normal padded gig bag, 1 small pack of silica gel, never dehumidified in its life and still sounds great. I think all these statements like if you dont dehmidify your solid top it'll sound off or something bad might happen. That maybe true, but it's not happening to me. Silica Gel makes sense cause of the humidity.

No point in going through all these gadgets if you can't play, cause that's what it's all about :P

Hahah, no. I got sweaty palms, disgusting. Agreed. I love the sound of solidtops opening up. It's only been two years and it's much sweeter and more resonant now.
True, true... Aiya but Singapore, exams more important when you're a schoolkid. O Levels monday. Sighh...

YEAH MAN! MY HANDS SUPER SWEATY ASWELL!!! BETAHAN RAUGHHHHHH!!!!. Thats why i use Elixirs :) Best damn strings

Yeah, 'good' for my wallet too. :(
But coated strings i likey. I use D'addarios. Cheaper alternative to Elixirs. Elixirs are about 22 a pack. D'addarios are probably half. :D They last as long (compare with my friend's, who also has sweaty palms), and i'm not so zai until can tell the difference between the string. So use D'addarios lor. Both sound great to me. Probably the guitar. :D

Addario's PALE in comparison. Compared with my elixir, sounded like trash >:[. Rusted faster and sounded dead. Lasted me less than a month, my pack of elixirs i use now has lasted me since last year Nov i think. And i DIDN'T WIPE THE STRINGS DOWN AFTER USE >:] ELIXIRS AWESOMESAUCE yo!

Whoa. You use uncoated D'addarios or the coated ones? The coated ones aren't bad. The only gripe i have is with the G string. Sounds dead and muted after maybe a month. I also not professional musician, never gig every week. I don't see the need for such high end strings. :D Playable. The guitar condition matters more. Stuff like the bridge popping out, the top arching due to excess water, etc. is gonna cost me maybe 10 packs of elixirs.

Honestly, never encountered such problems, i play my guitar quite alot for church and school and such. NEVER had my bridge pop out or top arching :/. Used the coated ones. Still, never found better strings compared to Elixir

Same here. I wouldn't even want it to happen, thus the precautionary measures. I play for cell, chapel, church sometimes... Mostly electric though. And for acosutic, i use open tunings so i'm fine. To each his own la.

Whoo finally a discussion on acoustic guitars..............altho i wouldn't have known it by looking at the thread topic haha.

I do think there's a significant difference in tone between Elixirs and D'Addario's, altho i do agree that for bedroom guitarists is isn't any real need for tonal nirvana. Unless you're a rather picky player like i am. Lemonade you use the Nanoweb or Polyweb?

Agreed. I'm just a bedroom guitarist, there's no need for 5000 dollar gold plated strings.
Oh yeah, it's more of a discussion on acoustic guitar strings imo.
