My gripe with buying and selling over the net

the first come first serve method is kinda a double edge sword. By stating first come first serve, you will forfeit the chance for someone to offer you a higher buying price.
well, havent really came across low ballers, instead i got 'high ballers'.

if you check out vr-zone and hardwarezone forums they do their buy sell very differently with the starting bid, reserve price, buy now price, seems quite efficient.

If an asking price is stated by the seller, majority of the time noone will offer a higher price, especially if the item is easily available and can be bought off the shelf. Usually in those cases, even if there is a higher offer, usually it's not significant enough to offset the first offer.

I personally will have an allowance for deals to be done within 2-3 days. If the original buyer is dodgy, or cannot offer a good excuse to be able to purchase that item within that period, I will cancel the original deal and go for the next bidder.

An exception to this rule is when an extremely rare and sought after item is put on sale. For this case, I will set no asking price and just deal with the highest bidder who can deal the fastest.
