hi all,
my deluxe reverb started humming weirdly tonight... it only hums when a guitar is plugged into an input and the hum is just normal amp hum but it didnt hum that way for the past few months of use. what could be wrong with it? thanks in advance!

Hi there,

usually it's a grounding issue, and that's what we wish for it to be. Otherwise it might be that some other parts are faulty.

Either way, there are a lot of threads regarding this pertinent problem. You might want to do a search next time. (:

The following threads would be useful:

if you touch the strings of your guitar does the hum stop / get softer? if it does, most probably it's grounding issue. change / replace your power cable to a three pin one.

if it doesn't try plugging in another guitar with a humbucker unit, does the hum stop? if it does then the wiring for your single coils are the culprit.

if all of these doesn't stop the hum and your amp is already grounded, better to bring it to a tech to check, it may be the tubes if they have not been replaced for many years, though worn out tubes tend to create noise not similar to hum.
