My amp just died, help!

Ok, I was practising my guitar this morning, when my tech21 trademark 60 amp suddenly turned off by itself! As in, the sound just stopped immediately, while the "power" light was still on. The channel lights and foot switch lights were all off, and the socket was on. When i turned off the amp, the "power" light was still on. I have to turn off the socket in order for the "power" light to go off. What happened?

Can any pros help me with this problem? I tried reconnecting all plugs and switched on and off, still the same. I let it rest for a while then turn it on again, still the same. Man, now I have to play my strat acoustically.

Here is a pic of what happens when the amp broke down.

Thanks!

trademark 60 has this problem with the Amp control's contacts going dead... yours may be a very severe version of this problem. you can try to remove all the knobs and spray contact cleaner to clean the pots and input jacks... and check for any loose components... also do check your cables to see if its not them giving u problem. i noticed the el cheapo patch cable.. those tend to fail.

If still cannot. then must get expert opinion liaoz..

Thanks for the reply ChanMin! Ok I tried it just now, and still hasn't got much effect on getting it back to work again though. :???: Yeah that cheapo cable was because my other cables somehow very loose, so bo bian la. Swapped it out for a new one just now, but, didn't work. :(

Ok now how? I really love the distortion tones on this amp and really want it working again man. Help!!

Sounds like a job for Randolf.

Or you can google/yahoo around for information. Or troll TGP. Or the likes.

Thanks for the suggestion thor, never thought of sending it to randolf man. Ok I'll contact him soon, but i'll bring this down to esden music and see what they can do about it first. I somehow can't find any info about my amp on TGP though.. :(

Try calling Esden first... am pretty sure you don't want to unnecessarily lug it down. ;p

Btw is there a fuse for the TM? Check if it's blown.

Yeap, they should be closed by now la, will give them a call tomorrow. This amp is friggin heavy man, hard to lug around :(.

Fuse.. Yupp there is! Ok here's a pic of the fuse, looks blown ain't it?

Try replacing the fuse first and when powering up make sure the master volume is turned down. If all's well and you can play or leave the amp on for 1/2hr without bloing the fuse again, turn down the master volume knob and power down and power up again. Try this a few times to confirm all's well. If the problem shows up again then perhaps you need an appointment with an amp doctor. Good luck.

I can't see it clearly on your photo, but it does seem to be blown. A working fuse would look like this:

Change a fuse first and see if it helps. (May blow again, but a fuse is probably cheaper and more convenient to do.)

heng ah! i think your prob is just the fuse blew la... cheap cheap fix~
happened to my 5150 long time ago...
my first few riffs on it some more... sianz.. :(

hope you get it fixed soon man!

Sorry for the blur pic man, my sis took my camera to hong kong @#@&#^@(#*&. Oh no wonder, I always never turn down my master volume when turning on or off, thanks for shedding this light on me randolf!

Haha chanmin, that sounds pain man! Ouch! Yeah most probably is the fuse, will change one tomorrow and update you guys! Thanks for all the help! Appreciate it!
