alright, here goes.

i'm planning to purchase my 1st electric guitar so need some advices from ya guys
my budget's ard 400$...guitar + amp(TIGHT!)

i prefer a telecaster, mainly becoz of e shape of the body(i haven heard e tele twang before).
but i'm still open to suggestions though!

music wise i'm into The killers, bloc party, the strokes, snow patrol, radiohead etc
occasionally some heavier stuff...etc linkin park, DirEnGrey.

SO...the mil dollar question..which/what guitar should i get??
i've got a few in mind...
timbre tele
squier cali seris
squier telecustom(2nd hand?)

amp: vox da5, roland microcube.

that's kinda dangerous, suggest you try one to hear if it has something in store for you at all...

judging from the stuffs that u play, I think humbucker guitars suit u better. Go check Citymusic. They having sale till 31 dec. I recommend those hamer XT SATQ or SATF(not the californian). It will exceed ur budget slighly tho

yeah humbuckers should do fine for you.but tele do come in humbuckers too.

is it kinda stupid to buy a single coil tele n then swap them out...like...waste $ rite..

u cant swap single coil to humbuckers if there's no routing . the john5 telecaster has a hum but it's way above u're budget.. but single coil can be overdriven with distortion nicely too!

i think the custom has humbuckers.full black with chrome hardware.

forget the tele. Get an Ibanez or a Pacifica with at least HSS if not HSH.

andr: at standard value, they carry "Timbre" guitars..and u'll be able to find a telecaster there.:mrgreen:

+1 to the timbre. The pickups can handle hi-gain pretty well, almost NO noise! Add in a Mike Mod DS-1 and u can rock thru headphones already. 290+120=410, which is jus $10 over his budget. It might be jus the thing ur looking for, although keep in mind that pedals dun sound so gd thru headphones, tho i dunno abt the Mike Mod DS-1.

That will require re-routing..
Plus cutting a bigger hole in your guitar..
It's gonna be way way above your budget..
Might as well settle for a tele with hums!
