Musically inclined

A strange thought just struck me, what exactly is being musically inclined? I always thought that its a rare gift that not everyone has but after logically breaking it down, i figured to me that to be "musically inclined", all u need is a ear that is sensitive to tone, aka not tonedeaf at all, and slightly above average intelligence. haha what do the rest of u think? btw by musically inclined i dont mean to just be able to learn an instrument and play it. i mean to actually know that one is actually very gifted in music and more than then average person

normally ,the ability to play music is all hard work... but it is true that there are some who can learn faster in terms of improving them self and catching the notes of the song. some people really blew me away.

music need above average intelligence meh?

heh i added that in because firstly i ve yet to meet a musically inclined person who isnt intelligent. Btw i dont measure intelligence by like schools n results and that bullshit, but more on like.. feeling?
and secondly.. if not then just a tone-ful ear would seem too litte:D. oh ya i agree on the fast learning and improvisation parts

improvisation on the spot? basically being able to do stuff without much practice. or better none at all

jimi hendrix ability to do impro on the spot is spent on years doing the so called "chitlin circuit" in the 60's

he was playing for Little Richard before making it big

to be able to improv on the spot requires a very strong basic foundation on music fundamentals..

went to the bass clinic, first presenter mr Din Safari spoke about there is no wrong note.
its how you phrase it..

Eh, my best friend is one who's totally musically-inclined. Like a genius. He can play the piano better than others who are like 6th or 7th grade in piano and he didn't learn much of the piano. He just learnt till grade 2 before he quited. His theory knowledge is just... Mediocre, at best, but he can improvise almost anything. He's totally awesome. He can play Master of Puppets on the piano just by listening to the song with his ears. I don't understand why his talent isn't recognized by his piano teacher or any other musicians.

And I'm proud to have him as my best friend.

I think being musically inclined is being more into music than an average person? :/

Like if you play an instrument
Learn Theory
Listen to music 24/7

Mozart.

That's what I'd call musically inclined. Child prodigies who can compose music at such an early age

I think there is some confusion between "musically gifted/talented" and "musically inclined" in this thread.

To be 'inclined' is defined as "having a preference, disposition, or tendency".

pedialite's understanding seems to be closest to the truth.

You mean like if there's music playing, the person gets ten million signals going through his head and ideas and appreciation and itchy fingers and starts getting spasms and into a trance and just blackout, and wake up the next day to find scores and scores and ten million recordings of absolutely beautiful music kinda musically-inclined?

I don't agree that someone needs to be versed in theory to be musically-inclined tho..
