I'd put Dream Theater more into ur metal list. Bt doesnt really make a difference if u say Progressive Rock coz evn under the Metal category they r Progressive Metal lol. Gd choice of songs bud

A lot of stuff for me.

Rock/Alternative (3 doors down, nickelback, bon jovi, creed, nirvana). Metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, 3 inches of blood). Punk/Punk Rock (Story of the year, Anti-Flag, Blink 182, Sum 41, Green Day, Underoath, New Found Glory) and tons of others. It'll take a long time to list all the bands that I listen to.

alot 4 me as well...

mainly nu-metal(disturbed, system of a down, linkin park, slipknot)..metal(metallica, iron maiden)...industrial metal(rammstein...american head charge)...rock(alter bridge, nickelback)

I wouldn't really call underoath punk, more metalcore than anything else.

But let's not go into that. shall we?

My music's bout 25% Metal (modern stuff like Trivium, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Devildriver, Lamb Of God, Black Label Society etc, as well as classics e.g. Metallica, Priest, Maiden, and industrial, i.e. Manson, Rammstein, etc. and of course, X.), 15% Punk (Sum41, Alkaline Trio, Anti-Flag, Rancid, The Offpsring, etc.), 15% Hard/Classic Rock (Foreigner, GNR, Skid Row, VR, etc.), 15% Electronica (NIN, Icon Of Coil, Kasabian, The Prodigy...) 20% Hard/Metalcore (Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, etc.), 5% New Age Instrumentals, and only about 5% pop.

And then of course theres the odd jazz song or two, and the huge blues collection from my dad.

Hey Rammstein ist gut! Feuer Frei! Hahah..bt so far to me their most techno sounding piece is Sehnsucht. Das am besten! Yeah und Underoath ist metalcore. And SherT, i respect u bcoz finally some1 classifies Avenged Sevenfold as Metalcore

Hmm.. Recently listening to Vintersorg, Ensiferum, Nile, Atheist, Cynic, Spiral Architect, Behemoth, Carcass, Nevermore, Tetsuo, Children Of Bodom, Symphony X, Malmsteen, Neil Zaza, and also Dhalif 8)

haha soft.com has quite a lot of metal / prog rock / alternative fans, yet singapore floods with pop-punk, punk, pop fans!!! :smt022

mm i think Dream Theater is very Prog Rock btw, cuz their metal style is Prog Metal which comes under the parent tree "Prog Rock". my friend did some "research" on genres and shared that with me =) anyway, their style is more towards prog rock bands than metal bands (even tho their influence is metallica!) esp cuz of their lyrics.

mm .... music... here goes... Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal, all that Jazz, Rock, Progressive, Ballads, Metal, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Power Metal, Speed Metal, Experimentals, Gospel, loads more...

Dream Theater, Alter Bridge, Andy Timmons, Blessid Union of Souls, Collective Souls, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz, Liquid Tension Experiment, Mandy Moore, Marty Friedman, Mr. Big, Michael Buble, Neil Zaza, Parousia, Racer X, Sonata Arctica, Steve Vai, Stratovarius, Van Halen, Third Day, 3 Doors Down, loads loads more.

Itz not abt some research or any influence man. Itz true tht Heavy Metal was born frm Rock, bt nowadays Rock & Metal r different. And Dream Theater was already, and will always be, in the Metal Encyclopaedia since their early days, evn when they were known as Majesty. Itz nt juz because POOF! Metal Only Because Metallica Influence! Thtz seriously wrong. They rose originally frm the styles of Heavy Metal & due to alot of technicality, their unique sound was put under the Progressive sub-genre of Metal. Itz in the Metal Encyclopaedia u cant disagree to tht. BUT, however, if ur talking abt their side project Liquid Tension Experiment, that is Progressive Rock. The construction of Dream Theater's riffs have the feeling of heavy metal roots rather than plain prog rock. Nt tht i have anything against ppl calling them Progressive Rock bt just need to correct u tht they r not "very" prog rock n they r not metal just because they r metallica-influenced. They r metal because they are.
