Ahjon, do you have any background in music theory? what is the purpose of learning music theory? is it for some school's entry requirement?

Hey soft thx for de reply.

ya. im currently still learning myself been reading books and such.
i gauge myself as around grade 4 or 5.
i feel that an instructor beside me will be much easier to learn and improve.
Its basically jus for my own benefits.

thx

Looks like you don't really want to sit for ABRSM exams, and problaby not necessary. You'll benefit most from the SOFT online learning. There's one problem - interest level not high enough to start one on theory.

By the way, if you think you have about Grade 5, you should be OK. If you are thinking of composition, then you'll have to go above that.

By the way, you have not entirely answered sof's question. What benefit do you see theory for yourself? What do you think theory can help you with?

I'm not asking this because I'm against theory. In fact, I'm an ardent avocate for theory. However, knowing what we want to do with it will make theory "practical". Otherwise, head knowledge can get you nowhere.

Hey cheez, gd to see u again.

Uhh.
ya.
I wana learn theory so as to get more in depth with music and like you said composition goes beyond what i have in mind today.
I wana learn and master the theory so as to aid mi as well when playin my instruments, cant always play according to scores or tabs.
Basically im learning all those to gain more knowledge on music and knowing what i'm playin etc etc.
Is there soft learning?

Thx.
