me not getting after trying it 2 hours at music plaza,
found out the Arpeggiator is the gimmick for the ES !!!
performance mode the arpeggiator brings out the synth,
voice patch wise it's AWM2 afterall !!!

maybe will get ES RACK...

Bargain a little harder for the ES Rack.
Was quoted ~ $1,600 + about 1 year ago by Music Plaza.
Lot interest in the end so didn't get.

If they are reducing the price, it makes one wonder whether a new model is eminent.

of course, new model is coming out. the software synth is killing these hardware manufacturers.

I was at Citymusic to look at the sale; tried out MicroX and X50, not bad.
After that I pass by Sinamex and the salesguy was playing the m-audio 88 key controller; I asked him is it from the laptop and he said, "Yes, soft synth is the trend and who needs a Yamaha piano?"....

last I went to music plaza then found out from the notice outside the show room about motif ES sale rock bottom price !

P250 at $2300 ++ not bad.

the last price given to me for ES rack is $1740++

MicroX sound wise for electronica hard dance music,
the features like the TR. for its size pretty good to bring around.
$920 with case and pedal.

X50 is TR w/o sequencer

Bongman, can I add? - X50 is TR w/o Sequencer and aftertouch. What impressed me is that the TR, for its price, has aftertouch which is not found any other "budget workstations" like the Xa, MO and its predessor, LE.

Anyway, really looking forward to what Yamaha has to replace the Motif ES. IMO, one of the "crucially" needed change is it's looks...even the SY77 looked better than it.

hi all,
after viewing the MOTIFactor.com website,
I realized that Yamaha did a good job at marketing the product.
the MOTIF is expandable with its array of add on voices and samples
which is important. probably buying one ES6 for the price of $2550 is
consider a give away.

go try listening to the demos of the add on voices and samples.

maybe I regret not getting one earlier this week,
but think of it, as a hobbyist should I keep buying new ones?
