Music Man StingRay bass copy.

yeah it's actually hard to find a bass which is universally regarded as sounding like shit. if you talk about construction maybe lah..

i've heard some people play staggs in zen before, to me the tone was decent. i believe they are made of alder bodies instead on basswood which is commonly used for entry level basses.

not to say that basswood is a lousy wood. it's just that basswood that is used for entry level basses tend to be inferior. there are alot of different kinds of basswood. read that some are not dense enough to pack enough low end, which makes it a less preferred wood for bass.

stingrays are really sexy basses.. im thinking of either selling off my fender pbass to fund for one ebmm stingray or save up for one olp mm22..

saw

saw a tgm with the sting ray shape...
and most impt of all, ITS ORANGE!
considering still..
oh well only gonna buy any bass during the christmas sales

basswood supposed to give a warmer tone than Alder or Ash..

"Basswood has a nice, growley, warm tone with good mids. A favorite tone wood for shredders in the 80s since its defined sound cuts through a mix well."
there are many species of basswood, just like how there are many species of ash (and probably every other wood). not that i know all of them though, i only know 'basswood', north american basswood, swamp ash, hard ash, 'ash'...

i've not gotten the opportunity to play such a high end basswood-bodied bass such as a warmoth so maybe it would be my lack of experience. but for now i think what little exists would still take precedence over whatever the warmoth site has to say (and they seem to have something good to say about EVERY kind of wood that they sell)

basswood is supposedly good for guitars, but i wouldn't know, i haven't played many guitars. i just feel that it doesn't make as good a body for bass.

Personally I think it's referring more to electric guitars in this context.. A warm-sounding guitar may not make as warm a bass as some other woods can create. Although the cutting sound and growl is indeed true for bass too..
