Miscellaneous metal riffs

Your distortion sounds bad bro, maybe it's the camera, but I really hate the tone. sorry.

Anyway to critic, the riffs are ok, try playing faster and practice with a metronome. also listen to some good metal bands like mastodon, gojira, if you need inspiration for better riffs.

i'm not a guitarist but why u nvr alternate pick? it makes life easier.. And nice distortion i like it. yea some parts sound like the Grotesque Impalement album... Keep it up. try some necrophaghist :D

Alternative picking is still something I'm working on right now, not confident enough to record just yet.. I think Necrophagist is far out of my reach for now

Will try listening to Mastodon :)

For some reason I notice my Windows Movie Maker degraded the tone quite a bit, and then uploading to youtube degraded it further... I'm quite disappointed how the tone came out. Its totally different. Any good video recording software you guys recommend?

Eugene,if you need good video or audio editing softwares,I recommend Finalcut Pro and Soundtrack Pro but these 2 softwares are Macintosh softwares and can't be run on PC.But they are really good for video and audio editing.

i think its called alternate picking. yea thats important when it comes to metal. need to go brutally fast, if not ur gay..hehe. hmm yea bad tone, i dont like it. Lacks the crunch and heaviness. get the uber metal efx by line6...you wont regret it. Analog rules! hmm as for the riffs, its nothing impressive, but im sure you'll find your sound soon. Go listen to more of Blood Red Throne, Decapitated and Vader to get more ideas.

Cheers!

The Uber Metal is a digital pedal, and I own one but selling to my friend soon because it doesn't work well with my onespot adapter. Tonewise its good, yeah I'd recommend it to those who have anything other than a onespot adapter.

Analog rules! I'm getting my analog pedals soon, maybe I'll get a jump in tone.

hey, try mine..
Project Crashed

did it with my friend. we call ourselves "sweaty boys". hahahaha..
quality not very good cuz laptop lousy.. and i lower the quality during the mixdown to save space.
hope u all like it!

About alternate picking.. Won't you lose some crunch for palm muted power chords if you do an upstroke? I've always seen people doing down strokes for those deadly palm muted power chords and I guessed it was because it would sound tighter...

If your amount of gain is high enough, and you're using a humbucker, I think there shouldn't be too much loss of crunch. Or can try lightly palm-muting, to get a louder and more driven sound.

But of course the thickness of the chugga chugga will be less, after all its pretty hard to alternative-pick on more than one string simultaneously.
