Miscellaneous metal riffs

Can make a recoding or online tutorial on how we're supposed to alternate pick palm muted powerchords upwards? Sorry ah I noob... Cause from what I gather, people are asking Eugene to alternate that?

nothing wrong actually...seems like matter of preference...
but it does seem easier to downstroke palm mute the low E with more force and therefore sound better.....like how master of puppets is 'supposed' to be played
but if u can achieve the stable tempo and force with alternate picking that would be the best i guess

people dun palm mute a power chord what...
only palm mute when u trying to do like the lower E string..when u gonna strum the power chord..no mute..cuz it spoils the sound..

maybe playing some iron maiden can help u learn the gallop effect..which is good for metal..

gallop effect is palm muting of alternate picking on the lower E string.. plus strum the power chord when letting go of the palm mute.

good luck!

ok..lets wait for a third person to comment on palm muting of power chords..

Got quite a few actually, can't really count 'em all.. Haha, showed my friends this post and they were all a 'lil confused by that comment on no plam muting of power chords...

You really made me think I did something unique man. Damn got my hopes high!

only palm mute the first note of a power chord what.. hahaha.. ok.. now u starting to make me feel i did something wrong.. for 3 years also! hahahaha..

give me a title lah.. i go see what is it like to palm mute a power chord..

ok.. perhaps i gey kiang..
apologise to all whom i have confused..

but i really never palm mute power chords one.. cuz i think they sounded like dead notes.. those XXX things u see on a tab..

Is it "pretty hard" or are we not supposed to do it at all? Haha

Unless you're attempting to break your strings and your pick... But it ain't nice-sounding. I tried it once while my guitar was tuned to standard D, and not only was it impossible to keep constant (much less add some rhythm) it sounded awful. I think that's why we don't hear of anyone doing it, because it ain't worth the trouble haha.

But alt-picking on a single string... It can sound really heavy if your guitar is on a lower tuning. It sounded much 'fuller' on my guitar when it was in D as opposed to E.

I think if you find the perfect spot to rest your palm when palm-muting, it shouldn't sound dead... I've tried palm-muting on a Les Paul and I had to move my hand further back as opposed to with my tremolo-equipped Ibanez. But I've also played on Floyd Rose bridges and really, palm-muting is a most comfortable experience with Floyd Roses :D. Easier too.

For an LP or similar kinda bridge, it may be a bit harder.
