MiniMoog Sounds

Okay, so i got it that MiniMoog sounds weird and spacey. But what are the other qualities of it? I had the demo arturia version of it, and found the sounds very analogue ( which is awesome for some ) and highly space sounding.

Maybe i should state what i am looking for, i am wanting to get sounds like pads from the Roland Jupiter Series. Yet having cool lead runs which are something like those from the Moog. Not forgetting some RNB basslines ( thick and lust ).

If so, do Moog fit my list, i hadnt really heard any pad soundings preset from the Voyager that really thrill me into getting it yet. I know you need some tweakings to get the sound to work perfect.

Butt... what about the Nord Lead 2X?
savvy enough against analogues boards nowadays??

chip in your thoughts...

gear are ex :( ... not many could had been tried too in SG, but if anyone would to have like minimoog and waldorf sythns out there who dont mind letting me go over to give a run of it. Please, please do PM me .

Basically, you are looking for "pre-sets" if I am wrong... like Moog puts it "Pre-sets are for the weak" (no offence but that's one of their t-shirt slogans)... depends on what kind of a synthesist you are or you just plainly play with pre-sets and not with synthesis. To be honest, Minimoog is not in the market any more, unless second hand and they are pricey due to it's collector vintage value... and it's uniqueness and synthesis architecture as a monosynth... what you can get is a Little Phatty Stage Edition or a Moog Voyager in store first hand... and again, this is only useful to you if you are into synthesis. Both has pre-sets (Minimoog doesn't)... and the pre-sets has pads to lead to bass to all sounds... and the idea with such "monosynth" is that you "design" your own sounds and you basically CAN create anything. HOWEVER, it does sounds like you are looking at "pad" sounds which may convey polyphonic chords to create the thick lush pads rather than just a simple one note (monophonic) paddish sounds (which is easily acheived by design on the LP or Voyager ... and sound of their pre-sets built in)... but if you add a little delay and reverb... or you multi-track it, you can achieve that "pseudo-polyphony"... but that's tedious... A software version of a Minimoog allows you to do polyphony... which is not true for a hardware minimoog or any other moog based synthesizers... they are all monophonic (one note at a time)... so better do your research... I do have a Little Phatty... if you want you can drop by anytime to get an idea of monophonic synthesis... LP OS2 is coming and I can't wait to upgrade to the arpeggiator function with LFO sync!!! Woots.... I still owe misse moola!!! :S

ahh sonicbrat, thanks for the replies... heard your composition there were really nicely mixed!

anyway back to the topic.
well. i dont mind tweaking for the sounds. But based on youotube vids i saw about Minimoog, its just too monophonic to my liking.Well i meant the Voyager anyway. Hmmms makes me think if i should get it from misse at 5K. hahas.

maybe i should talk a little about what i want. Hmms i need it mainly for lead and bass sounds well and pads too. ( :P that seems like a really wide scope ) but what i really want is to use these sounds on songs. as in your regular songs that you hear on the radio. :]

i look upon Access Virus TI, i find it to be not bad, the sounds were more modern, well again i am saying this based on youtubing :P. Yes i know i hadnt been on close encounter with any of such sythns well accept for NL3. I do know however that wheras Minimoog is purely analogue, the Virus and NL3 are virtual analogue. But i really dont mind if it really sounds good! :P
And also the TI can really get along well with major DAW, which is cool too in a sense. I could then be open up to more flexibility.

wooo oh oh i would love to hear how LP sounds! hahas!!!

The Virus TI and NL3 would be a good choice for you with the budget you have... in fact they are some of the top players in VAsynth... good choice. You may also want to look at Virus POLAR TI ...
