Interesting that midi is only 30 years old. I still remember the pre-midi days. It will be interesting to see what they have to present during Winter NAMM.

is it still relevant to today's computing standard ?

midi is serial transfer, with today's USB interface,

is it considered slow ?

once I read a comment from BT that midi is dated

I believe midi is more than just the 5 pin plug. Even with USB midi, it still uses the standard midi protocol of which midi events are determined. It certainly revolutionizes how electronic intruments talk to one another using a standard format. Without it, each instrument will be doing their own thing. Sequencing will be a disaster. VST instruments may not be around. There will be no GM. The list goes on.
