MIDI Merger

shel_keys, why do you need it in the first place? How is your setup like currently?

I need it to use on gigs, id like to controll my micro x with my axiom 61 and RD 700. Layer some good e.piano and pad of microx with Piano sound of the RD, and axiom to controll some other sounds of micro x. Axiom is currently hooked with ,macbook, using soft synths and triggering some samples. and just in case mac crashess.... (i hope not, coz its running ruoughly around 8-12hrs straight everyday during gigs ang at home) at least ill still have my 2nd keys sound using axiom to controll micro x.

I see your problem. Swee Lee used to sell midi mergers, but that was a very long time ago. I've not seen midi mergers for a long time, only midi interfaces. But perhaps I've not been looking very hard.

Perhaps the best way to route them would be software. If you are using Logic, you should be able to create environments for the midi routing easily.

Another way about it is connecting your Axiom to your RD700 and using midi thru to connect to your Micro X. You'll need to do some programming to your RD700.

Software easier.

For the benefit of other readers, shel keys' problem is cannot be solved by a midi interface. The problem is that the Axiom and Micro X has only 1 midi in and 1 midi out each. He wants to control his Micro X with BOTH his RD700 and Axiom, and at the same time hook his Axiom to his Mac. He ran out of midi ports. At his current setup, both his Axiom and Micro X needs 2 midi ports each. That's why he is asking for a midi merger which merge midi signals together. Right shel keys?

That's right cheez, but correction on 1 thing, if ill be controlling the microx with axiom and rd700, i won't be connecting the axiom to my mac. Ill be needing only the midi merger if in case i wont be needing my mac in a certain set up. so that is RD700 midi out to midi merger midi in1, axiom midi out to midi merger midi in2 and midi merger midi out to micro x midi in. This is what i want to accomplish. Thanks cheez...

Thanks, i have a firewire 410 and its not a midi interface i'm looking for, a midi merger is what i need to have.

As I suggested, if you cannot find a midi merger, just go software. Are you using Logic on you Mac? Setting up midi routing is quite simple using Logic. You just drag the virtual cables like what you would do in real hard wire connections.

And do try out midi thru as an alternative.

Can also try out ebay and online sites to look for midi mergers. They are out there.

Thanks to Ratboy, i got his Midiman merge 2x2 for a nice price. Problem solved, thanks to Ratboy and to everyone here who tried to help and shared their knowledge and suggestions.
