Metal Versus The World

Read the comments! I think some of them are pretty relevant, though no offense meant to the author of the article. Its something we can all learn from.

that was a lil funny, claiming that metal has "technicality and musical complexity surpassing great compositions like paganini’s 24 caprices". one needs a really get around more and maybe really sit down and bleeding listen to the 24 caprices. and why all that cheese abt 'me versus the world', seems almost like hes dying to be unique and hoping the world hates him for listening to that kinda music.

the article was super good. it cleared my stereotyping of metal.

but when u listen to the lyrics it says to stuff which eventually ppl will burn down church and suicide. tts my opinion i dunno

metal is super hard i agree =)

Agreed. The author obviously has a point to make, but it wasn't done in a very objective way, in my opinion. And his tone .. just made him shoot himself in the foot so many times, sweeping statements a plenty.

Hahaha. Hi Darren.

I think he has an account on Soft. I remember reading somewhere that a guy from FSV is teaching guitars. Not too sure though.Hmmm.

Whatever it is, the fact that anti-metal exists in disproportionate amounts results in us metalheads bonding closer together. Lets look at it this way, all metalheads respect each other, speed metal, thrash metal, power metal, whatever. I can't say the same for rock. Take me for example, I do intonation, set ups and pot changes on metalheads' guitars for free. I don't do it for non-metalheads (unless if their a friend or something).

^If I have time, and you don't make me travel to Jurong or Changi.

Meh I'm trying to expand my capabilities to include refretting and scalloping. Sourcing for cheap necks to practice on now, then I'll scallop my Jackson neck.

I find his article quite badly written actually. :/ Grammatical mistakes everywhere!

But the point is there, albeit not very convincing.

Impassioned writing, though a bit misguided.
Metal ain't the "best" in any aspect, nor can any other genre of music lay claim to the words "best" and "most".

Most important thing is to keep an open mind. And accept everything for what it is.

"The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open."

Funny how he stereotypes everyone whilst complaining about how everyone stereotypes metalheads.
I like how he talks about how his teacher taught him to "open his eyes and mind wider", then he starts explaining to everyone how technically challenging metal is as if it makes it the most "superior" form of music.
I don't know where the hell he's living but I don't know anyone who stereotypes metalheads, as if metalheads have it bad. Also, every musician I know acknowledges the technical ability required to play metal.
Most metalheads seem to be funny, easy-going guys for the most part. Except this guy of course.

Whiny, elitist and a huge moron.
