am thinking o getting a mesa boogie either f30-f50 or the older dc3, has anyone used any o these before any comments? ive been using hybrids n well tis is first time getting full tube,... is it a difficult maintainance?

i owned the f30 before.
do note that the f series has no rectifier tube.
the f series also has hum problems.

apart from that, its got gorgeous hi gain, and very nice clean.
hard to dial in anything in btn.

Tried a DC30 before.

Nice distortion - in between Mark and Recto series.

Clean is ok, nothing fantastic. Hard to dial any in between tones.

not in stock for the last 5 months and dont even know when the stock is coming according to the man. Some way to do business huh. The f-50 will be around 2100 while the f30 is around 1800

The phone number of the shop at Sim LIm is 63339745. His name is Raymond and seems to be a nice enough guy. I have been looking at the mesa amps too but I am begining think I might look toward THD.
Good luck anyway

just went guitar connection today. (by accident somemore. wanted to go guitar 77 instead) ::lol:: the guy told me he selling bla bla bla... mesa boogie... bla bla bla. so u guys might want to check there out.

Apart from F30 or F50, are there any other tube amps by either Mesa or other companies that can probably nail the rectifier tone?

peavey ultra plus head? described as a poor man's rectifier.. but unfortunately out of production and the last time i saw one 2nd hand the guy sold it for $600

ive got sumone willing to sell me the dc3 for 1000 sgd in good condition, wit foot switch is this a good price? after i get this ill let go of prob most o my stomp boxes except delay, wah n tubescreamer coz dc3 dun do in btw sounds very well,.. hahaha

I cant comment on the price but the setup you describe is defintely workable and versatile enough.

Regards.

About the retubing how much would tt cost n how often do you have to do it?

For myself, I only do it if the bottom sounds saggy or the sound lacks punch.

However, since its a 2nd hand model why not pay $20 and get new power amp tubes.

Just a thought.. Where would you get tubes in Singapore. Brands like JJ and Soltek. Sorry if it sounds dumb, but my experience has been mainly SS and modelling amps.

Any website that shows the difference in properties between tubes such as 6L6, EL34, EL84 etc..

Sim Lim Tower & Burlington Square has quite a no of shops retailing vacuum tubes, mostly audiophile and parts shops. I recommend trying this particular shop (forgot the name), if u enter Burlington Square via the main entrance, turn right and u should find the shop.
