Hi People,
I finally after all these years being in AGF..and today I managed to play a relatively New Mayes MJ55 made by luthier John Mayes.

To start off I’ve taken a video of this and posted a review of it on YOU TUBE ..enjoy..

The guitar shape looks exactly like the Gibson J-185. One of the things you would notice straight away when you hold the guitar is. It’s very light. From reading through John ‘s blog and posts at the forum that he likes to build his guitars light but not overly light.

One look at the back braces reminded me of the back braces I’ve seen on countless Bougeois Guitars that I’ve played.

TONE- I took one strum and I was like. This guitar sounds so full. The bass response is just amazing. Not overpowering but deep and yet the trebles and the mids just comes out and balances it out.
We start off with some pictures of the internal bracing and that is the one of the keys why John’s guitars sound so responsive..
