Marshall out of JnH

which marshall sound? there are many marshall sounds from different eras actually.

but doubt a jnh could nail those tones. if it could, it probably would be a really hot pedal.

lol ... man .. i just got this JnH pedal .. i duno how to set sia .. i tried their setting all i dont really like :(

i want something .. heavy and crunchy maybe somewhat between ds-1 to mt2 in between :P

What kind of amp are you runnning the pedal into? The sort of dynamics and bass response you will get out of a 410 or 412 tube amp will differ greatly from a solidstate 15W amp, for instance.

you'd do better with units specializing in the Marshallesque tone: eg Carl Martin Plexi Tone

that pedal not bad. but try the crunchbox. or u can look at tonebone stuff. i own the TB classic and i think it's nice u can get some nice marshall crunch.

i tried the crunch box , very fuzzy eh .... but the guy at the shop also puzzled , he said his crunch box wasnt like that .. haha

thusfar, when it comes to getting the Marshall-esque voicing, Carl Martin is my top recommendation. unlike other pedals in this domain, it doesn't mud-out at higher level settings.

MI Audio's Crunch Box is a respectable raunchy drive unit, but a Marshall emulator per se it is not.

i checked online and came across these few pedals of Car Martin .

Hot Driven Boost MK2 MK3 , Plexitone ( the one above ) and Crush Zone .

Anyone ever tried these few pedals ?

for Crush Zone i read the review on the review section already .

if you are interested, there is a used Crush Zone @ ebenex which is in a very good condition 8) with that said, it's not a Marshall type tone coming from this pedal...

PS: moving this to the Gear section, hopefully, more contributions from other pedal enthusiasts.

I owned the Hot Drive N Boost MK1 before. It's a very transparent OD on one side and a clean boost on the other. A comparison with the JnH to illustrate is that when you switch both on, you get a volume boost, rather than a more saturated distortion sound. I would say its a great OD but crunch never gets close to an MT2. Should be similar for the MK2 and MK3.

One thing also is that it works really well with tube amps, and serves more to complement them than transistor ones.

IMO, the plexitone and/or crush zone should be closer to what you're looking for. Do try them out in person.

On another note, I find the JnH quite good for nice crunch and lead sounds, mainly when both sides are activated. The Hyde side alone is quite rubbish in a way.

if ur looking for a plexitube kind of tone, i got a hao rust driver for sale. it's a vintage gain unit, like deep purple those kind.
