Marshall MG30FX or VS30R

Hi all,

thinking of getting a new amp for my friend for his birthday.
deciding btw the MG30FX and VS30R,
i am considering marshall because my friend had a marshall amp (VS15R) and he shares same name as the amp brand so... thought it would be cool...

i did a search and seems like the marshall solid state amps arent really worth it for sound quality and that rolands seems to be more recommended?

is there really such a difference btw marshall and roland? and what is the price range for the MG30FX / VS30R?

do note that the VS series were superseded by the current AVT models...

haha thanks for the info..
its been awhile since i last bought any guitar stuff...

so i am guessing the equivalent would be the AVT20XT?
how much that cost? and which is recommended?
AVT or MG?
or should i really ignore the branding and just go for roland?

and the purpose of the amp would be mainly for jamming w/ friends and the occasional performance for other friends
