Marshall MG15fx: $215
Line 6 Spider IV 15: ~$205

Currently i'm using MG10 practice amp. Quite bored with it now. So now, I need an amp with effects in it. I'll be getting pedals/pedalboard but it'll be much later. So just need an amp with effects. The pricings stated were the ones I saw at Bras B & Penin. Or do you recommend any other amps? My budget is up till 200 ish

Or given the 2 options, which is better and why?

i'll go with line6 if i'd really want effects w/o caring abt tone. marshall might be just a tee wee bit better tone wise but prob not as versatile as line6 effects wise. this is of course based on my past experience with these 2 brands. not too sure abt their current models. however, imho upgrading from a puny amp to another puny amp isnt gonna make much of a diff tone wise. so my recommendations were based purely on effects, not tone.

The Marshall's Distortion channel is much more usable and tweakable than the Line 6's distortion channels. IMO the crunch channel in the Line 6 is not usable at all cos it's just too flubby and contradicts the name of the channel. The metal and insane are only good for metal. I tried dialling down the treble to get some hard rock tones, in fact in turned it all the way down, but still there was just way too much presence to be used for a hard rock song. The efx on the Line 6 are quite usable, but not that great and I wouldn't use them much except for a touch of delay.

For the Marshall, you can definitely get a range of tones from the distortion channel, brought it to a jamming session in my school's music room as I didn't wanna lug my AC30 and pedal board along and by adjusting the gain and treble knob(rest of EQ was set to the same settings throughout) I managed to cover tones from John Mayer, to Maroon 5, to Deep Purple and GnR. Although they were not perfect, it was definitely usable.

If i were you I'd go for the Marshall.

+1.

Sometimes changing amps isn't the best option. It's better for you to get more pedals or a change of guitar hardware

NUX's mighty 30 could be a consideration as well- $200.

I would not go with any of the three amps mentioned so far. I would go with the Valvetronix VT20+ for about the same price as the Spider IV. You can play around with no less than 33 different amp models and 25 different effects, with an independent reverb from the time-based effects. All the effects in VT20+ can have up to three individual parameters adjusted, unlike the rest, which are just a twist of a knob, then it goes to the next effect.

I'll go for NuX 15 watt amp I used that so far that's the best 15 watt amp I've played
