Been scouting around and asking but still can't make up my mind! Mind you i only have $200 to spare after the sale and everything i bought... so nothing else~ Thank you!

Q

the vox, any day any time. i have a vox pathfinder 15 the clean is great and the distortion is creamy and nice. the marshall is too standard.. the clean is not as warm and nice and the distortion is the basic standard 'JEEEEHHHH' you get from these cheaper-end marshalls, probably sounding something like the marshall jachammer, only lousier.

but it seems like the marshall is more popular in terms of the number of people who has it, so i would tell you to give both a try before anything else. :D

that particular marshall amp u suggested totally suck... i've heard this opinion from many others and i myself do have this opinion... yeah!!! haha

Personally, I found that Vox's distortion couldn't give me the punch i needed, its quite good for bluesy stuff though.

the vox's distortion is good for blues and rock to hard rock... but not really cutting the heavy metal type yet... for those u need pedals... but seriously.. the vox's cleans are very good for a 15watt amp and thats what u really want when u're using pedals anyway...

Hmmm... Tat's a veri strong point 4 mi caz i have TS7 and DS1 already...

oooh! then go ahead and get the vox... definately over the marshall... the marshall is like for sum1 who want a jeng jeng jeng sound without pedals.. :D

I tried the Vox before but not the marshall. The Vox overdrive doesn't sound nice to me.... a bit digitalish...not the smooth kind of overdrive. Clean not bad but not fantastic either.

First of all, this is not about fighting my case for Marshall - i am not paid by them to endorse the brand (although i wish i were  )

i use a marshall microstack II. i find the cleans warm, which is fine by me, it sounds very balanced when i use my Fender tele which has single coils (the tele does not have such a thick tone due to its construction and pickups). It may be too warm for some if paired with a humbucking guitar, but i love it with my Burny LP, the cleans are warm and jazzy, esp with the neck humbucker.

In overdrive, i find the gain quite smooth. nothing compared to a tube amp of course, but pleasing to the ears, nice bluesy tone to me. haven't compared it to other amps in its class, in fact i havent tried the vox before, but that's my take from the Marshall camp 8)

the marshall takes pedals quite well, btw.

*edit - about jeremyrozario's comment that marshall is treble-excessive, you can always use the eq-contour to fix that. it is not a regular tone control, it actually regulates the midrange in your frequency output. Turning it all the way to the left would give a very trebly, 'scooped; sound while turning it to the right gives a very woody tone.

Yeah, but the Marshall he mentioned ain't exactly the same as the Micro Stack. The bigger the Marshall, the better.. that's what the people at Davis used to tell me. Haha.. to some extent, it's kind of true though. But the Marshall 15CDR is crap for the price you pay. In general, for the same price you pay for that Marshall amp, you can get a better one at the same price, if not cheaper. :)

Yeah man~ I'm looking at the Marshall 15CDR and VOX Pathfinder15R only caz tat's my budget limit...

Why not go for the vox valvetronix 15watt ? I would prefer that amp over the pathfinder, more stuff to play with also.

Out of budget for mi~ vox valvetronix 15watt is $345...

oh yeah, another thing to note, nowadays all these products are well...of poor qc, not say quality necessarily, but as in the individual amps should be compared piece to piece, becuse from what ive seen, no 2 amps are the same, and in a recent test i came across a crappy pathfinder

Wat you mean by crappy? As the sound suxed? Or the sound not as clean as it should bi? Caz i heard when it's in "clean" mode, it's the best.,,

To say the truth... i don't know how "clean" it will bi either... i only have a fender frontman 15G at home... So i won't realli know...
