making pedal board casing

whoever

hey fellow softies. I'm very interested to make a pedal board and the casing as well. i roughly know how to make the pedal board tnx to various websites.
however, of all the websites i've visited, none taught how to make the casing (the handle,cover.etc.) any one knows where to get the different parts to make the hard casing and how to do it?

oh yea.. and i need loose wood, wear do i get one frm?. i went to IKEA at tampines and the guy i asked said they do not sell loose wood.

for the casing, unless you can find material thats sturdy enough and light at the same time, if not, its prolly not worth the time, considering the different type of pedalcase that can be found in the market locally, from various shops around. Decent size and weight.

more than often, the weight of wood thats durable, when put together to form a box, prolly will weigh a bit, add on the pedals weight in it, carrying around is like weight lifting exercise

another thing be the construction of the case, without special cut joints to firmly secured the different pieces of wood together, it just seem too fragile using nails screws or wood glue.

anyway, if wanna try at ikea, perhaps can look for those self assembled shelf, cupboard kinda, buy those, get really the measurement, find machines to saw to size(neater and more accurate than using brute manual force/energy) and piece together. For the handles and stuff, thats prolly the less worrying thingy as i believe for handles, carpet, wheels and stuff, its easier to get since there are other industry which utilise those as well.

The areas more important be on the material(light and sturdy) and construction(firm and steady)

imho that is.

cool!

Do take note of the wood weight though, coz if you need to bring the thingy round pretty often(with instrument or other stuff) and depending on the size, the weight will add up and can be a drag

yea. needa find a wood tt is light and strong. any recommendations? i suck at knowing the diff materials:(
i thought of using titanium. but got no idea where to get it and is v.hard to get the shape u want unless u've got the right equipment.

heh, i dont think one can get titanium easily, locally and as individual. Things like that prolly controlled or at least for industrial manufacturing purpose instead of diy stuff.

paiseh, no idea on wood type.

But for getting wood, other than ikea, perhaps can check out yellow pages, look for carpentry/wood work listings, call and check with them, if they do individual one time off sale for wood/cut to size wood

heh, if too much free time, can try staking out in industrial area for discarded wooden crate for transporting equipment as well. Some of those thingy might be useful and can be free... Only problem is finding the right size one. I have seen some which can be suitable for pedalboard project round the place i work. But then unless really desperate or already having access to those thingy easily, if not, going through yellow pages prolly easier

Carbon fibre, but be warned, its EXTREMELY expensive. You can get carbon fibre plates from fook hai building over in chinatown. Its like 70 bucks for a 25cm by 25cm carbon fibre plate.

:o my god. i'm nt gonna buy tt tt's for sure. hmmm. cheap ones have not?. or any industrial places where they throw away unwanted wood? maybe i could use that.can't be tooo heavy right?

or perhaps plywood?.neone noes where to get tt?

Hey dude, just a note. They do sell loose wood at Ikea, just look at the LUMBER section. It's not really a lumber section or something, it's at the bottom floor and the place is really big with loose pieces of wood lying around. They're part of a cupboard set and it's quite cheap actually. Comes in 3 sizes or something...

You might want to try that... Just look around Ikea Tampines...

haha, for me, i just took a plank of wood, which i took out from my table, sawed it to size, pasted velcro on it, put the pedals on it and just stuffed it into the biggest backpack i could find in my room and im good to go..haha, only can fit 5 pedals though, but good enough.. dont have to worry about diy pedalcase where the handles might break and the pedalcase might fall apart,

anyway, whoever, good luck making ur pedalcase, be sure to take pictures while making:)

i want a hard case then can keep for long term. it'll look damn ncie too!
the advantages of making my own hard case is that i can make it to wadever shape i want!- circular, triangular, haxogonal.. u name it! and it'll look damn stylish too because u can put wadever u want as the outer look.. band names, band photos, photo of urself and even a photo of me!

tnx for ur luck kennykiller! and i will try get photos of my pedal case and share it with u guys and gals 8)
btw, u got 2 accunts?. wayne 1991 and this one?
