the new macbook pro issit a gd buy or not compare to d old macbook pro? no firewire 400, n usually ppl say new stuff always unstable.. shud anyone b buying it now if dey wanna replace deir current laptop?

I bought one 2 weeks ago to replace a dead Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz. Base model 2.4 Ghz. Montevina on 1066Mhz bus is a clear winner against the previous versions.
No problems so far. Forget FW400, go for FW800. FW3200 on the way.
I use it for home recording...plugged in directly from the line out of the JVM410H after looping the GT8.
You'll want to bump up the RAM to 4GB. The CPU processor increase to 2.53Ghz in the next higher version is negligible IMO. I didn't need a 512MB GPU as well since I don't play games (waiting for Diablo III though!)
