Mac Book Pro

Hey guys,
just want some of your input. Im thinking of getting a mac book pro for doing stuff like music arrangement, using Logic and Cubase and for use of Pro Tools..
You think buying a mac book pro is a good system for such stuff?
Or are there any laptops which u think is worthwhile?

well my opinion is that mac book pro is a good lappy by itself , if you ever upgrade it to the max you can have 2.16Ghz dual core , 3GB ram.

and you can have external HD to store your stuff too.

however its best if you don put in too many sequencer as by itself its still a laptop not good to overload it. maybe logic would be enough . however you could add protools if you like too.

beware though the mac book pro might only let you to run not the potential of such software but its a better choice if you want something mobile to carry around for gigs, or recording.

and seriously if you have enough cash just get another mac pro with quad 2ghz for another 4K and you might use logic to share processing speed

The important question is: what will your tools be for "music arragement"? What hardware? What software (including softsynths etc)? From here, you can then decide the platform and the DAW software.

most people buy imac for garage band. hahaha. Not sure about the programes though.

...which is opposite of the decision making process. Buying iMac just for garageband is like buying a car because I like the stereo in it!

Firstly, Mac book is not imac. It is 2 totally different thing.
And to answer the question, the mac book is enough to handle all the listed applications. Although to run protools, you will need a protools interface.

If doing multitrack audio, just keep an eye on data transfer speed and bandwidth between storage and computer.

im using a macbook pro here, using garageband right now for the demo tracks and stuff.

getting logic and protools would definitely be a great idea on this almost flawless laptop here IMO, that is if u are really keen in doing studio recording with all the great facilities and recording devices.

you can boot up on windows and macintosh, so to what i feel, its great even when u are not using it for recording. so consider getting one!

hey araon just curious how much tracks does it allow you to go to?

for multi tracking i mean. did you try other soft samples rewiring?

I'm using Pro Tools M-powered 7.3, together with the Project Mix I/O.
Using Logic Platinum 5.50 ( the last version that was able to be used on PC ). Well i have 3 other sound modules as well, the KORG Trinity, Roland XV-3080 and Yamaha Motif sound module.
Running on a desktop PC.

Well, the reason why i want to get a mac book pro, because i would need my pro tools, etc for school and well, i need something which i can carry along.
so yeah.

since you need something to carry along. LOOK NO FURTHUR its the mac book, another good thing mac book pro have is it can goes up to 3GB ram wheras a normal laptop you see for windows goes to 2GB only. plus its 17 inch theres really nothing much to grumble about except for its price. if i am not wrong its 5K plus which you can get a mac pro with it.

Good choice but you ought to consider if you will upgrade the minimal thing or not
