LTD guitar, what do you all think of it?

its the more affordable range for esp guitars
probably lesser quality and workmanship is put into LTD guitars
but they are still good

the 1 in ur link is a esp?

I have an ltd f-50. The craftmanship is pretty good, better than entry-level but nowhere near top-notch. However you definitely need to change pickups, cos the stock ones just blow.

LTD is the affordable alternative to ESPs. But if compared to Epiphones (to Gibsons), Squires (to Fender), etc, LTD is probably the best affordable cheaper alternatives guitar in terms of quality and value for money. I have strong faith in the quality of LTDs guitars.

And LTDs look damn good too. :)

okie

not so sure if it's affordable as being said.
the price is abt $1120 SGD.
for n LTD.

but anyway..looking forward to it

if you're talking about the high-end LTDs then you're better off with an ESP standard series model.

I think the higher end LTDs are simply not worth it at all, since a bit more you can easily get a real ESP.

The lower-end LTDs, based on my experience, are really well-made though of course you'd need a pickup change to make 'em really shine. But quality-wise, its hard to beat.

If u say that the lower end ltd's are really well made, what of the higher end ones? Shouldn't they be even better? Its hard to argue against the higher end Ltd's cos some of them have almost the same specs as its esp signature counterparts. Even coming with the same pups, most cases its emg 81 set or emg 81/85 or seymour duncans for many of the signature models. The Ltd kh 600 series even has the original floyd rose bridge and emg set as the Esp.

Of course by all means if u can afford the esp go for it. But do note its not just a little bit more. Eg, the Ltd kh 600 series almost with the same specs as the esp costs around $1600 at davis. However, the esp kh2 vintage retails for around $4000+.

Thats not a bit more. Thats about 2x more! Anyway we shouldn't dismiss guitars as
gd or bad based on the brand name alone or where its made. But rather on the guitar itself
and how it feels in your hands. :)

O btw, not many people know this, however i believe that edwards are actually meant to be lower end version of esp but meant for the japanese market. After that grassroots goes even lower down the food chain. Someone correct me if im wrong.

Heres a clue: EDWARDS Series

Check out the address of jap official website. Edwards comes under the esp header!

Clue no 2: Dosen't the forest ESP Original Series -FOREST-GT-

look exactly the same as the edwards fr gt 103.

Unless they are from the same company theres no way theyll be let go without a lawsuit.
Also do check out the edwards vp series, which is unacannily the same as the esp/ltd viper.

Of course davis won't bring in similar looking guitars of esp and edwards and place them side by side hehe

heh yup you're right.. Edwards is a subsidiary of ESP, and i think quite a bit of their products are meant for the Japanese Domestic Market.. but they do have an export catalogue as well.. i remember seeing it somewhere on their website..

I recently tried an ESP (note, not LTD) Horizon, and to be completely no bullshit honest, I didn't like it. Which is odd, because the unfinished necks on some ESPs are nice.

It really felt like plastic. It's like the guitar was moulded out of polyurethane. It was probably this, plus the fact that it had an angled neck, like an LP, which I also don't like. It just had all the things I don't like. Also, the tuners weren't too good, and the wood felt and sounded like styrofoam.

Then again, ALL guitars with painted necks feel like plastic to me.

Except the EBMM John Petrucci BFR . But still, it's not my thing.

So is the horizon neck unfinished or lacquered neck? I need another ESP to accompany my Eclipse and so far, it is the horizon that caught my attention the most..

thanks for the tip...must go down there and do a test run....i dont quite like lacquered necks...lucky my eclipse has a satin finish...

It's a Horizon NT-II. Odd. I thought I'd like it. But I have to say (which I'd never thought I'd say this, but...), most Ibanez guitars felt better than that particular piece...:???:

mebbe it was a lemon? but wat i know is that out of all the ibanezes, and deans and bcrich'sthat i've played, they all felt cheap in my hands...not trying to flame down the brands but they leave a lot left desired...

not to say that ESP's are the best, i've come across a lot of lemons as well. just not as much as the aforementioned brands....
