Nice to see growing interest in Looping Pedals!
For starters I would highly recommend the Line6 DL4 for learning and experimenting with a simple setup that has a basic array of necessary footswitches that are ergonomically layed out.
For simpler use and novelty (look ma, no hands!) purposes, depending on budget there's the Boss RC2 which is compact and packs quite a bit of useful and powerful functions.
If you want to use a looper like a backing track with quite a bit more storage and instant recall pre stored loops then I would recommend the Digitech Jam Man which has Twin Pedal layout.
The Boss RC50 is in my opinion the current most powerful and cost effective Live Looping pedal setup but I would only recommend it those who've experimented with the above mentioned as the Loopstation can get very confusing for the uninitiated and impatient.
The other interesting Loop pedals out there not so readily available here in the Boomerang (coming up soon version III) The original Lexicon Jam Man, Boss RC20XL, The Repeater, The Looperlative and the Gibson/Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro which I consider to be the most powerful.
Do keep in touch with me if you'd like to get to know more about all things Loop. The sonic and compositional possibilities are mind expanding for composing, improvising and practicing even!
