Hi.
First things first.
So what is 'rhythm/ pattern improvisation?'
A typical session may go like this:
1. We only use the first three open strings. So only E, B, G, three notes. Of course this limit on strings is arbitrary. It is to create a kind of canvas, some sort of common ground. Besides, creativity is about what you can do with limited resources.
2. The only rule is, we create to feel mutually engaged. Which leads me to...
The reason why it's rhythm/ pattern improvisation is because I realize these two components are fundamental and allow for very open kind of improvisation. As compared to harmonic/ melodic, which has an inherent self-closure-seeking attribute.
This is something relatively new for me, at least in terms of collaboration. But I have briefly tried it with a friend of mine ( a beginner guitarist btw), and it's pretty neat.
If you are interested in exercising pure creativity for the bloody sake of it, as long as you have good rhythmic sense, even if you are not that technically proficient, it's okay. I am pretty advanced technically, and super creative, so I can complement in flexible ways.
I stay in the east, but I don't mind the travelling.
If it works out, cool, if not, cool too.
So... PM me. Or just reply to this thread.
Any questions welcomed too.
