Local indie record labels

Hey guys, del this if you think its pointless.

I think we should have a list of local indie labels to help bands steer themselves in the right direction. *hint hint*

Since I don't really know any local indie labels, anyone wanna help start the ball rolling?

To my best knowledge there's Wake me Up Music, Aging Youth, Straits Records, Riot Records, Kitty Wu Records.........

I think when it comes to local indie labels and "up and coming new bands" its more of a case of don't call us we will call you.....

The local scene is small enough that if you are fit the labels profile they will know who you are, and if you are don't fit then no amount of badgering and pestering will create that fit.

My advise, Instead of wasting your energy trying to find a label to do the work for you, put that energy into being the most kick ass performers you can be. Pimping yourself on line and getting as many people to show up at your shows. Then people will come knocking on your doors.

If not then at least you got to rock out and have fun instead of trying to call people who don't know (or really care much) who you are.

go do your own thing. if someone likes wat you do eventually they'll get in touch. if not, you still managed to get things done right?

I quite agree. I'm doing my own thing... its tough funding things yourself and producing it on your own etc, but you get a real good feel about it :) only thing is promoting yourself! Best way is to pimp yourself here! haha... buy SOFT ads? haha

But i guess, when it comes to a point where local indie bands starts to do the admin stuffs by themselves(by admin i meant band promo, funding your own recording, finding your own sponsors, endorsements to sustain the recording and instruments purchases) then most likely that the band either lose interest or they will tend to lose it. Lose the joy of being in a band and the joy of playing ultimately. IMO there is a need to get the bands exposed to the local indie labels though as scarce as they are, let them decide if the bands are good enough to get signed on....just my 2 cents
