Liverpool FC Thread

We'd be doing ourselves the biggest favour IMHO, the boost that one gets from beating Man U at Old Trafford is something that can propel us for the rest of the season. Last season is proof of that. Burnley however, is NOT proof of that.

Beating man u on their own turf would def be a boost in confidence. But the prob is Rafa tends to rotate the squad too much. And he puts too much faith in Lucas & honestly, the boy just cannot make it. But he's more or less in the first 11. The team def plays better cos there's more control down the middle of the field. Aquilani needs more starts so he can start gelling together with Gerrard, like how Alonso did. well, let's try to get past Lille 2moro nite first, before thinking abt Sunday's game...

:)

^Agreed, and rafa under-uses Babel, he's seriously under-rated and VERY talented, and plays similarly to thierry henry, cut in, side foot, SCORE :) People like Benayoun and Babel need to hold a more regular spot in the squad for liverpool to have any hopes this season :) Just my 2cents from a non-liverpool supporter

Agreed. I always rated Babel highly, despite him having many detractors. Give them a run in the team. Lucas isn't bad per say but the problem is that he's not good. We need someone creating things from the middle, willing to get forward often to help the attack and having enough stamina to run back and aid in defence. Aquilani was a great example against Portsmouth. Sure, Lucas wins balls in midfield but he doesn't do much, if anything with them. And besides, there's already Mascherano to do that. Babel gives us that cutting edge on the flank that the other wingers lack, none of the other wingers at the club have pace.

Sweet result last night fm the Europa league. Pool got drawn against Benfica, who are a good side also, for the quarters. But now they'll need all the rest before the match of the weekend against man u. fergie has started the mind games by stating that Gerrard got it easy from the FA for his elbow on Pompey's Michael Brown. He seemed to have forgotten that the same player nearly ended Ryan Giggs career sometime back with an unforgivable challenge. I know of some man u fans who actually said tht Brown got what he deserved fm Gerrard. Ahh, well... fergie will be fergie.

Lucas put in a man of the match performance against United the last time we met at anfield.

Lets hope for more red cards and flying tackles. May the best team win. We win, Liverpool can forget abt 4th place let alone Europe, Liverpool win, we can more or less forget abt the title.

true tht he put in a stellar performance against united, but still not a fan of Lucas at the end of the day...

LOL... lets try not to end someones career here with all the flying tackles & red cards. Let's hope it's a good ol' fair & clean game where the football does the talking. And yes, in the spirit of the game, may the better team win. :)

Babel and Aquilani better play against Manchester this Sunday. They're definitely good enough to be in any team's squad-let alone Liverpool. And Babel is really the man we need on the wings!

And did anyone read the papers? Riera lambasted Rafa. :O He didn't play fantastic this season. And Babel any time!

For this season, Babel has constantly outperformed Riera. But the whole story goes like this: Torres and Reina have always been encouraging Riera, telling him that if he plays he definitely will play well. However, Benitez's style is a little more withdrawn, Riera wants him to tell him where to improve his game, but its isn't the boss' style. So Riera gets angry and mouths off. Understandable, but unecessary.

One step to win the game for liverpool

1) 1st minute: Lucas breaks rooney's leg, gets sent off, no lucas, no rooney, win-win situation for liverpool :D

The team didn't play very badly but they didn't play well. Benitez shoulda just gone for broke and thrown Babel and Aquilani on from the start. Lucas and Kuyt were terrible. Johnson was obviously still a little short of fitness and Gerrard was off form. Its the burnout lah. I just hope that they can rest and regroup for the next match.
