“Listening to their music, your body feels like the earth, your blood like the rivers, your eyes like the sky. What HAYA expresses is…their passion for nature, and the voice of their hearts.” – Tan Dun, Grammy Award-winning composer/conductor
Nomadic and exploratory in nature, award-winning world music icon HAYA (“border” in Mongolian) brings us on a search for our spiritual homes, experiencing the simple beauty of life along the way.
Migration – A World Music Concert is a captivating journey, a contemporary migration into another realm, through innovative music alongside classic traditional songs. Rooted in the rich and profound musical heritage of Mongolia and featuring modern music elements, HAYA draws on a range of Mongolian traditional instruments and musical techniques such as throat singing, the Mongolian horsehead fiddle, and shaman drums.
Now in its 10th year, the six-piece band, founded by renowned horsehead fiddle artist Quansheng and fronted by the charismatic vocalist Daiqing Tana, has released five albums to date, with their latest Crazy Horse winning multiple awards, including Best Band, Best World Music Album and Best Composer, at the Chinese Music Media Awards in 2015. The band has won three Golden Melody Awards, performed on Hunan TV’s I Am Singer (season 4) and also showcased their music at the MIDEM festival in Cannes.
