Line 6 Variax 700..how does it work???

ok this may seem like a stupid question, but ive seen a variax 700 but the funny thing is it has no pickups

hows the amp able to reiceve the signal?? and are the pickups intergrated???

the guitar is cool though...i want one it looks like a paul reed smith :lol:
