Which are the lighter guitars huh?

Strats, teles, sg or les pauls?

Feel free to name other rarer models... Finding out because I have back problems, but still wanna play guitar :D

Hmm.

Epiphone SGs are very light... if not to your taste, you could try the semi-hollow bodied guitars like the Epi Dot, Ibanez Artcore series or some of the Hamer 335 look-alikes.

guitars with less wood in the body are definitely light (regardless of the brand name). Gibson's ES175 is definitely light. so is Ibanez's AF105...

I've one guitar that I believe is the absolute lightest around - traveler speedster (only 1+ kg). Till now I'm still amazed how light it is. PM me if you'll like to try.

The Variax looks interesting...

If less wood = light, wouldn't a flying V be the lightest then?

jkz: Thanks for the offer... But I don't really like the traveler speedster... A bit too different for my liking :D

Maybe you can go the semi hollow route if you want something closer to a solid bodied electric guitar instead of a hollowbody? These semi hollows are around 6lbs in weight.

For a start there's the cloud 9 les paul series by Gibson.

Anyway what sort of a guitar are you looking for in terms of shape, sound and feel?

isnt laminated hardwood another way of saying.. PLYwood?

back on topic..
I think SGs are really light compared to most other mass produced and easily available solidbodies. strats are about 3.5kgs and most les pauls are around the 4kg range, not much of a difference really.

Hey AzNjT... Hope you understand that i'm not trying to be lazy about playin' the guitar.

It's just that I have scoliosis that is quite serious. My spine is crooked and it hurts everyday. I have to take painkillers most of the time.

That is why i'm trying to look for a light guitar.
