Light distortion on pedals

hey fellows,
recently i've have this peavey rage 158 and it dosn't seem to have practically any dist.
it does have a lead knob but oh, it sounds really bad.

wanna ask, pedals like the BOSS MT-2 can use it for LIGHT distortion?
btw, any of u guys selling practices amps with good dist?

imo the MT-2 is a really thin sounding pedal. get a ds-1 or 2, it would be better.

your amp is solidstate. i agree with suckasucks abt the thin tone. the tone is great at low volumes, but once i crank up my amp, the sound is horrible. there's also a lack of bottom end. i borrowed my friend's one with the intention of buying it, it's been with me for two weeks already and i still cannot get a decent tone outta it.

'light' distortion? you might wanna look into overdrive pedals for that

u shud have bought the behringer GM110 instead. 30w plus decent distortion n nice clean sounds.

u want light distortion and u want an mt2? man sth rly wrong say

get a ds2 or sd1 if u rly want boss stuff, mt2 first of all is a high gain distortion pedal so i dun think it will do LIGHT very well

Buy your amp before you buy your pedal. Not every pedal works well with every amp.

eh... mt2 so not every time too low dist... maybe once in awhile can shred.

^where'd bottom end come from?
real bottom end comes from 4x12s..
Mt-2 has no bottom end and no midrange. thats what makes it so terrible.

btw do you already have the peavey rage and mt-2?

the MT-2 has great levels of drive (intense-type) & a fairly good EQ offering. i do hear midrange & bass from this pedal, no issues with those but the MT-2 lacks definition at higher volume settings once you turn up your amp.

if you want light distortion, there are plenty to choose from in the market. do look out for pedals in the like of BOSS' DS-1. in due fairness, these units aren't 'light'; they sit in between the mild drive types & the metal-type units. i employ them as drive boosters for my amps/ other pedals. Subdecay's Black Star is a good dostortion unit to own.

a modded DS-1 is basically a DS-1 on steroids... it's still a DS-1 though, it doesn't cross over into the MT-2 territory.

MT2 like the RAT, Marshal Shredmaster Hyde sde of Visual Sound's JH and many others out there are basically variations of a theme in the DS1 family of silicon based distortion pedals. The MT2 is like 3 times the gain structure of DS1 but with added versatility of the powerful 3 band eq controls and the much dreaded built in nasal sounding speaker cabinet simultor circuit that pales in comparison to modern modelling technology.

An interesting way to to mod and use the MT2 is to cripple the gain structure and of course remove the stock nasal "sqwakee" tone and set the controls for Overdrive Bliss! The modded MT2 is 1 of 5 of my favourite no. 2 drive pedals in my own 3 drive pedal setup. The other 4 being; BD2, OS2, SD2 and Ibanez SM9.

Oh ya and if you really want to hear and feel the Low end of a stack, try as you may nothin replaces the sound from a real 4x12 cabinet. Really!
