Les Pauls - which would you get?

Hmmmm..........i wld go for an Orville. They have by far the closest tone, feel and QC to a Gibson and they are affordable, right within ur price range. Go check out hub4thailand's Orvilles, he sells them quite often.

that zemaitis is a mint 2nd hand. going ard 1.6k sing. unless of course, he want to buy brand new, it'll be much more ex.

is the LP Studio the less frills version of the Standard or its other more decorated siblings?

one of the primary reason why Studios are shunned is because it sports a less thicker body, to some of us, this affects tone. to the rest, it's a snob excuse to refuse a Studio.

i used to own the Studio, these guitars are at the entry level of Gibson's LP hierarchy, there are more QC issues with these compared to others in the family.

is the 'Gibson' tag the impregnable reason why we should get a guitar? not quite...

thanks for the suggestions guys.

im gassing over a gibby every now and then, but i cant really afford a standard. ive heard from a couple of friends that studios are not worth and ure only paying for the brand.

how about the bfg? its pretty affordable, it isnt the best guitar with its physical appearance

How about Heritage? Made by the Gibson folks who preferred to stay behind when Gibson shifted its factory. Essentially you're getting the exact same les paul as one made by Gibson anyway, just with a different shape headstock and name. I've seen a couple of goldtops at Guitar77 and it's within your budget I think.

Orvilles cant be purchased first hand any longer, production stopped in the late 1990s. If you want a new LP for about the same price, consider an Edwards from ishibashi for about 1.1k including shipping.

I wld go for a lawsuit lp copy, like greco or burny. The burny lp r v gd copies of the 59s lp, n their stock pups the vh-1 r as paf as u can get. But gotta look ard.

we have the gibson studio going for $1.6k with hardcase and a epiphone lp custom going for $850.

drop by to check them out!

fyi: ESP Eclipse will not give u the LP tone.

I tried my fren's Eclipse I. Fantastic but nowhere near, a class of its own :)

hmm. isnt anyone going for an epiphone lespaul? its got pretty good tone as well, and furthermore, its under gibson. why not go for an epiphone les paul, its well, affordable and as close to the real one as possible.

Its is under Gibson but I don't think as close to the real one as possible. Its impossible to be close to a Gibson just by the fact that Epi's use multiple blocks of wood for its body whereas the Gibby is a singlecut from 1 piece of wood.

There are other copy's that would be closer to the Gibby and it might be Orville's or maybe some others.

Greco & Orville must be the closest u can find :) since they are under lawsuit, that should mean something right
