Is it a good guitar?? I am still a beginner and i don't need a FANTASTIC guitar, i just need one with a rather good sound. There is a promo at swee lee, 1LP special2 + 15w amp= $400. Is it worth it or shld i get other guitars??

I really hate single coils, i prefer humbucker and i have heard many bad things bout standard value guitars. And my buget is 300 which is just enough for a LP SE2.

i own the guitar as you have mentioned above.
Its a great guitar.
I use it to play those punk-rock songs.
But it requires a little bit more set-up than normal guitars usually do.

What bad things you heard? Dun spoil their reputation. Please justify what you think is bad.

I've heard from others that such 'no-name' guitars play badly and 'goes out of tune in seconds'. I dunno how true is that.

This is definitely untrue. No guitar will go out of tune in seconds if it is properly set up. Do the people who give you this "expertise" advice tried the Timbre before?

You.

Small boy.

Talk about single coils and hate like you know what the words really mean. You also talk about getting a good sound from a not-fantastic guitar.

You also claim to hear about no-name guitars that go out ot tune without really understanding the problem. Locking out all opinions and suggestions based on hearsay yet asking for ideas which are also hearsay.

Oxymoron.

*sigh*

Set up = Adjusting the truss rod, intonation, pickup height, filing saddle slots, etc. Basically ensuring that your guitar is in tip top working condition.

On the Epi Special II: AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I owned one back in 2002, and got rid of it almost immediately. Bad setup, horrible intonation, overly thick finish, scratchy electronics, finish that started chipping off, tuners that slipped.

If you have a budget of $400, consider getting a set-neck Hamer SATF from City Music (I'm assuming they will have a sale soon). Much better construction for the money.
