Les Paul necks

What's the difference between a 50s and a 60s neck on a Les Paul? Anyone know?

50 is thick neck, 60 is thin neck

It was only recently I realised that there is a choice of neck thicknesses on LPs.

Yes, they only offer the choice recently. I think I should like the 60's slim taper better, even when I have only tried the 50s.

The Les Paul's 60's neck caters more to those who are used to thin necks, or those who prefers comfort and ease. Its "taper" feature allows better fret coverage as you move down the neck, where the neck gets slightly thinner.

I would prefer the rounder 50's neck profile though, as it brings out the characteristic and the chunky feel of the Les Paul. I would wanna FEEL a Les Paul in my hands. :wink:
