Les Paul Appreciation Thread 07

@ neuro182: eh the neck is a Seymour Duncan SH1n, and the bridge is an SH4.. came stock with the guitar.. real good sounding stuff!

kalibre - if you want great cust service and very good prices, do drop saul at center city music an email -- he is a very respected dealer in the les paul forum.

hey dude, haha yeah i've heard about him over at the LPF. supposedly he's really good, i thought of getting from him too, but i wonder if singapore will tax the thing like a fricking lot.

it depends on whether you are lucky! i personally did not get taxed at all for the latest amp i shipped from overseas but i got taxed for my previous purchase.

in any case, te gst will be 7% if you do get taxed. saul is very great to work with! before i made the trip down to his stall, i called him up and he told me exactly what he had in stock and what was coming, plus he will take photos of the exact guitar and send it over to you

top notch service!!

I was happy when they reissued the silver burst, but was shocked with the spec where the initial maple neck has been replaced with maho !! :(

i think that it may be possible that the silverburst was reissued mainly in terms of colour than its original appointments. Its speced exactly like the current production lp custom models, save for the chrome hardware and the colour

midnight: pm me if you want to know how much i paid for it

goose: did you manage to try an original 80's version? apparently in the new batch, they used a paint which isnt supposed to age at all

Oh mate .. iam still waiting to try one !!

It seems that the maple neck contributed lots to the unique tone of the early silver burst which were not favored by LP purist thus the premature production line cut.

mAnnn when i 1st saw the silverburst at the Gibson Guitar of the Week
i was like MANNN I gotta get myself one of those...

Its so sexy i think it shld come wif a warning...

too bad i can't afford a gibson... but epi did a silverburst as well right?

ah.. just to clarify, mine is not the guitar of the week version. that is actually a custom classic version with the silverburst finish. i was eyeing that at first because it was way more wallet friendly than the custom shop version, but the dealer didnt have it in stock, and i didnt want to waste a 600 mile round trip journey, so i pulled the trigger !

lookie what i have on loan for testing with option to buy...

a Orville Jimmy Page model, based on a 1960 model, slim 60s neck, smaller headstock etc.
all 4 pots are also push/pull, just like the Gibson, to control coil split and phasing.

ABR-1 bridge, just nice with SD's in bridge and neck.

someone i know here is selling it...he got it directly from japan.
so i just borrowed it for testing, i had to set it up properly first tho.

the retaining wire on the abr-1 was buzzing everytime i played, so that also had to be pushed in between the screws to tighten them...actually a pretty common prob with abr-1's.

pretty nice guitar anyway, weight of guitar feels just under 4kg.
