Les Paul 50s Wiring diagram HELP!

Hello guys!

I'm in need of some wiring help. I'm looking to re-wire my Epiphone Les Paul with the 50s wiring. (50s wiring allows the 'Highs' to be retained whilst you roll down the Volume control)

Can anyone point me to a reliable site for diagrams? Or send me any diagrams you may have? I need a clear diagram as this would be my first time soldering up the guitar.

Thanks in advance!

Treble Bypass

This is an easy mod that will help your guitar retain the treble frequencies lost when the volume setting is reduced. This is done by adding a small value capacitor across the terminals of the volume control to allow some of the highs to bypass or "bleed" past the volume pot. The result is a consistent, brighter tone at all volume settings.

For the rest, you can chk out either

ARGH! I spent the last 4hours or so, tryint to solder the points correctly, double-checking many times, and re-soldering many times as the wires "cracked and broke" when trying to shift the pots back into the control cavity...

After the agonizing 4hours, only the darn Bridge pick-up worked fine. I've checked and the wirings seem correct. I followed the DiMarzio wiring for 2humbuckers, 2 volumes, 2 tone knobs and 3way-selector switch. (without installing the treble-bypass mod)

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Or do I have to spend $40 to get a pro to solder up my pick-ups

I've done solderings before with other electronic stuffs, but it's darn difficult to solder messy wires in small awkward spaces of the Les Paul.

This STINKS!

P.S: anyone here gonna order some stuffs from US? Cos i'm planning to get some CTS 500 k Audio pots and maybe some Sprague Orange drops capacitors.

Trick is too actually do as much of the soldering as possible outside of the cavity...hmmm....well if ya'll not doing any coil spilting it should be quite easy....

you gotta tell us what color is soldered where b4 anybody can help ya....since the bridge is working fine.....double check your bridge wiring against the neck one

Do let us know where the wires are soldered....

Imho, the best thing to do now, is to let a guitar tech look at it and pay for the service. Yes, it need $, but at least it save lots of hassle on the trobleshooting and such, not to mention that it be a more neat job

If you really want to continue trying, then get ready to spend some more $ on the pots, pickup switches. In the end, it might make you more frustrated and a lighter wallet too.

Thanks guys!

Great links!

I now suspect it could be the toggle switch (neck position) that's faulty... Grrr.... I think I'll try to Mail-order from USA, some CTS pots and Switchcraft Toggles.

Any recommendations? Do any local stores / people carry these stuffs?

I'll start a new thread regarding these mail-order parts.

Thanks everyone! :?
