today is Leo fender's death anniversary.

lets pay a little tribute to the man who revolutionsed guitars and is regarded as the father of modern basses.

we who are about to rock salute you !

rest in peace

A toast *lifts imaginary cup*, to the man who brought me joy, by creating the Stratocaster, of which one I proudly own!

The man who created the first electric bass, The Precision Bass, which is still the bass chosen by many rockers out there. Nuff' Said. I salute you. *bows* 8O

Ok, there was a bit drama...

Here's to the creator of the most revered guitar shape in the world, and the creator of probably the most successful guitar brand ever.

Always remembered as one of the pioneers of the electric guitar. May he rest in peace.

I request that when you play your guitars, especially if it is a Strat or a double cutaway, remember this man. It wouldn't be possible without him.

Cheers, Leo.

10am, Thursday, March 21st 1991, Phyllis found her husband, Leo, unconscious in the room where he slept. the doctors at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton announced his demise moments after he was rushed there.

today we commemorate his 81 years of life worth living, especially when his obsessive enthusiasm left us with a rich legacy of tools to manifest our talents & ideas.

upon reflection, i believe i have been infected with Leo's work ethics- obsessive enthusiasm- which made me who i am today, your friend, who constantly believe in sharing good (guitar/ bass) news for free. likewise, Leo didn't retire to enjoy the fruits of his labour, he believed in refining his creations to benefit his friends, on his own accord, free from financial obligations. "I owe it to musicians to make better instruments," he said, for which we are greatful.

i started out disliking the Fender brand name intensively because i look at the wares without appreciating the philosophy behind the creations. there's no merit in putting down a particular brand name because it definitely doesnt make you a better person.

guitars/ basses/ amps/ pickups- Fender did it all & conqured the music world single handedly. a toast to the great genius, our prayers will always be with you...

i know this might sound controversial

but i tot leo fender wasnt the first one to actually invent a solid body guitar ? it was Les paul ( its not just a name) WHO built the first actual solid body guitar. Leo was the first to actually mass produce solid body guitars, whereas Les paul was a custom guitar guru / master luthier ?

Les Paul's solid sodies came after Fender's. the Gibson gang were closely watching Fender's progress before they themselves decided to launch a series of their own after Ted McCarty gave the go-ahead then. Fender invented the solid-bodies AND mass-produced it...

on another note, legally, you are the 'inventor' if you are the first to register the idea, regardless if there's some other chap who thought the idea before the registration.

Wow. I'm correct. My memory isn't that bad after all.

Think about it. No double cutaways... Every guitar you see would be Les Paul shaped. ):
