WAt will be the best Lefty guitar to start onz?

Will it be a Yamaha 112?

A Samick frm Davis?

a JnD or TGM?

Or save up enough to get a Fender MIA, MIJ or MIM

or get a Squire?

im a lefty as well.. hi5!!.. haha.. go for the squier strat.. cheap and gd.. strats r very versatile guitars.. but tat depends on wat type of music u wanna play.. haha

LEFTIES UNITE!!!!!! :partyman:

A true blue lefty here as well :p

Well, judging from the versatility and the availability, I'd say, go for Fenders... And like what the others said, it really depends on the type of sound/music you want.

For your info, my very first electric guitar is a right-handed Ibanez Artist with double cutaway

It'd be nice to have all the lefties on this forum unveil themselves here!

aha coolz!!!

actually i'm a bassist

Currently using Yamaha RBX270 with many mods =)

Hoping to get a Schecter Studio 4 soon

Will be saving up in the future to get an electric =)

i'm a lefty too. but i started off with a right handed guitar and after playing for about 2 years i kind of gave up the thoughts of learning lefty. lol....
intending to try it out when i've settled down with my gears.

IM A LEFTIE TOO! wa so many lefties on soft.

Anw, I use right handed guitars

Being left handed was never really a problem... would I play better if I use a left handed guitar? 8O

I think probably you would play better if you use a lefty guitar...cos many times, the righty guitars' cutaways get in the way of reaching the upper frets...the volume/tone knobs will probably get in the way as well...and the body design might not be the most comfortable... the strings tension might be affect too I think (depending on what type of guitar you're using), if you have a righty tremelo, you'll have to adjust yourself to using it upside down...

I used to own a righty Strat and try to play it the 'Jimi Hendrix' way...but unfortunately, doesn't work out...can't reach the highest frets...

I still have my double-cutaway Ibanez Artist though ;)

Haha, I mean I use right handed guitars the right handed way, not turning them over and using my right hand to fret the notes. Lol.

^(to elias) Yea, I had that problem too. But I got myself an SG, so it wasn't that bad. I didn't even change the strings, just played everything upside down. But soloing at the high e string at fret 22 is still a little tiring (given my short fingers).

To answer the threadstarter's question: Being a leftie is no different from being a right-hander. Start with a beginner guitar first. Actually any of the guitars you mentioned is suitable. Except the Fender. I'd murder you out of jealousy if you got a Fender as a first guitar. Right now I'm still dreaming. -_-

haha.. actually i realise not a lot of left-handed guitars available here in Singapore.. just went to excelsior just now.. only saw like 2 leftie guitars in davis out of all the stores there.. a$200 samick strat copy and a $450 vantage les paul copy.. it seriously sucks to be left-handed.. hahaha.. its also hard to get leftie guitars online

yes..that's one of the reasons i didnt start off playing lefty.
lefty guitars are more expensive comparing the same model.

adding on...you play it totally opposite? that's way too cool...like albert king.

i think yamaha offers more lefty guitars and they should be good enough to last you a long time if your just learning and playing lefty for fun, unless you are going to more and more higher end ones. like the pac112 and there's one more model which i've forgotten the name in H-S-H config & floyd rose costing about a hundred more than the pac112

I'M A LEFTY!!!! hahahahahaah we should have a thread to gather all the lefties. cause we're more creative and smarter!! MUAHHAHAHAH.

I've got an aria strat, right handed, but it's been strung the opposite way, and I play left handed, as in, using my right hand for fretwork and my left hand to strum/pick.

I used to play a lefty-stringed righty Fender Strat as well!! Heheh...but not as comfortable as my lefty guitars I owned now, so I sold it off, never wanna play a righty guitar again  (unless it's an SG or my double-cutaway Ibanez Artist :p)

Hey....I wanna see all the local lefties' guitars or lefties in action :p Everyone post pics leh!! I'll kickstart it then
