Just like the title says, whats the best leather strap ya'll used and strap locks?

For the strap, i dont want a Bounded Leather or Leather with PVC.

100% Genuine leather please :).

No exact budget but below 100?

i dunno about leather straps, but maybe u could take a look at levy's range.

and dunlop straploks works fine for me for the past 2 years of spinning my guitar wildly...

Sorry to interrupt, but i have a question.

does leather straps actually helps you to reduce the pain at your shoulder when you are playing standing up??

well i want a leather strap, cause i like the feel of it, hehehehe :D.

I actually want a strap lock thats like the Ernie Ball ones or Schaller which are installed INTO the guitar itself :)

I bought mine Leather Strap + Strap lock at the same time and it cost me ONLY $45. I bought at Guitar77. And it feels good. This is the MUST if u looking for cheap kind and good one.

noooo. Jim Dunlops FTW.

All my main guitars for the past 2 years have had them installed. the design is such that you can use a normal strap if you forget your straplock-ed one. that helps.. hahaha

You'll want a good, thick leather strap. Check this out - http://www.italiastraps.com/guitar-strap-how-to.html A thin leather strap (e.g. those $40 levi straps) is flimsy and isn't well padded. A good thick leather strap will cost you... I don't think you can keep to within $100... maybe barely.

And if you get a thick strap - strap locks might have issues, especially the dunlop straplocks.

Consider buying oversized strap buttons. Together with a thick leather strap, your guitar will never come loose.

They also damage thick straps - leaves an imprint and can tear leather if you're not careful installing them.

I recall a friend forced a set onto his Italia Strap... he had to use a hammer to flatten the strap first.

Actually, some strap makers offer strap lock holes upon request. So the holes are bigger so the straplock doesn't need to be forced in.

Oh, no no, that wasn't the issue. It's just the thickness of the strap. Dunlop straplocks don't handle thick straps well.

it's not about the material, but the padding/ cushioning...

after trying many straps, i find that this is not entirely accurate as well!!

its about the WIDTH. the width is the factor that reduces pressure. (sec4 physics)

if you want to prove, carry a crumpler vs a timbuk2 bag. the crumpler has a much thicker strap, whereas the timbuk2 seems to have a thicker padding. but after a while, the timbuk2's one will cause a lot more shoulder pain.

this is also true for guitar straps, which i've tried with a normal fat leather strap and a heavily padded yamaha strap. the yamaha strap had this weird kind of padding.. it was spongey yet- not enough. end up, i flipped the strap to the other side which was thicker and had no padding.

after saying so much, a good strap can only help ease shoulder ache from pressure. but your back muscles will still ache if you carry your guitar for too long. its the same with carrying a good harvesack for too long, no matter how good the bag is, its still gonna cause aches here and there.

If there's a lousi vuitton , armani , prada strap.

i will definitely buy it..even if it cost more than my guitar

call me vain.

thank you
:)
