hello, guys,

need some opinions on the $250 lazer practice pad at ranking sports.

As i need to work in the day, my acoustic set can only be played during weekends XD

Is the set good? like silent enough for even mignight playing and the feel of the pads and stuff

thanks a lot man :D

i've seen it at ranking before... i guess its an alternative way out but i suggest you go for other brands. just an opinion =), or try to get pads to put on the set so it wont be loud at all?

hhmm...a suggestion here...instead of getting the practice pads...try getting a pearl rhythm traveller...can buy second hand too...the lazer pad i try b4...the rubber is too thin and u actually be quite noisy when u play on it as u r hitting the metal plate below the thin layer of rubbers...consider the pearl rhythm traveller as i own one too...im working and study whole dae too...be home at 11+ everydae except sunday no sch no work... :P i play my traveller set everynight around 1am+ with a 10+ day old niece and 1 yr+ nephew slping ^ ^ close the door and is totally no noise outside...and i juz practice as listening to my mp3 or my rudiment everynight for an hour or two...

sound produced by mesh head are low and non-piercing hence, u can practice anytime as long as u dun hit the rim :P lol!! im using it so im confident to tel u its' work very well...lazer practice pad produce more noise then acoustic set....mesh head is better for late night usage :P

hope this help...

Cheers!!

wow may i know whats mesh head?

Sorry to ask, but do u like in HDB? its really WOW to play drums at 1am without disturbing ppl man.

check pearl rhythm traveller set in PEARL webby or can drop-by swee lee to take a look...it's like a 'net', instead of the regular batter head, it is another kinda head that created for silent practicing...i iactually dun really like it, but because the benifit is come how more than badies to me, i start to love it now...lol!! but the bounce on the mesh head is much more than on regular heads so must rem not to depend on it too much...

PDP do have a set like traveller too, but it can be change back to acoustic much easier then traveller, it's call PDP chamelon

yup...hope it help....

Cheers!!!

yup i heard of the mesh head. you can actually use your current set and replace the heads with mesh ones. the ones that they use at modern drummer is someting like e-pads, not many people like it. (very little rebound)

thanks for the info guys! =)

is it possible to change my acoustic set heads to the mesh heads instead of buying a rythm traveler? like that cost lesser haha

yes u can penko...go grab them at sweelee or ranking(if they still selling any), of coz the cost will be cheaper.for ur case, u will have a resonant skin if u juz change directly so u might hear some resonant sound and mayb quite disturbing, u gotta test out urself. i remove both the bass drum and snare resonant to minimize the sound produce. it's up to u depend on ur house condition. good luck!!

Cheers!!!

are you talking about a practise set? i wanna get those man..

i like the thomas lang one! by remo. comes with double pedal practise pads and stuff.

don't think they carry it in singapore though.
anyone can help?

are those lazer pads, those rubbing padding where u place on top of the skin?
Feels like plastic when u hit on them?
that will be noiser than mesh heads right?

I've tried the mesh but not the rubber ones.
MEsh are really quiet!

dun get rubber pad, spoiled ur wrist and u will tend to use more strength to archieve the bounds. i tried it wit my set before, dun really like it, mesh head give more closer feel to real skin.

anyway, wad penko means are those rubber pad set ( if im not wrong ) that can be set up like a 'drum set' and practice ur stroking and such. juz like those E-pad, Remo practice pad...blah blah blah....yup :D

yup i means those subber sets that looks like e-drum without e haha

i thinks its more worth to invest on mesh, though it would be quite troublesome to chagne between mesh and acoustic, but i am getting my mesh soon :D

just buy mesh, it can be quite a hassel but.. i dont think you would be changing that often right? since your scheldule is tight.

^

true haha :)
