lasalle music technoiogy course students plz come in!

i was talkin to a friend and he told me how they rejected him because he didn't have a grade 5 music theory certificate. didn't even gave him a chance to audition/interview.

to be honest i am quite interested in the course too, so i would like to ask any current students here, how true is this? because from what i saw on their website under admission, there was no mention of it.

What course did your friend apply for?

During my time 2 years ago , they told me that they didn't emphasise much on music theory but rather on practical and common sense kinda skills. Things like , how does an electronic pickup of a guitar work and stuff like that. That rule only applies to the Music Technology course.

As for the other courses if I'm not wrong , if you don't possess a grade 5 theory certificate , you would have to do a crash course on music theory from grade 1 to 5 (if you get through the auditions first that is) before getting started with the first semester's work. But then again , those with grade 5 theory certificates get first pirority.

my school's gonna start implementing the grade 5 standard. cuz frm past experience, it's pretty messy with students who hav different music theory knowledge being together in a class.
