I had the luck to see the micro sampler at tom lee hong kong weeks ago...seein the limitations of hardware patch memory etc etc and neverending chase to cath up with softsynths.....Korg lets loose a sampling keyboard.....with a goose neck..so far i have never seen a 100% sampling keyboard b4, other than workstations wth sampling options ...

even with sampling option installed, its still quite a pain when i tried it with my extreme and le..

and addin analog engine and knobs to a digital piano??.......the sv1 is anoter new hybrid...i;ve never seen another like tat too...

it always seems to me that Korg is seting new standards all the time and rolnad and yamaha are always just chasing after korg's trend setting...but i love sum of yahama and roland's acoustics and keybeds.....just hope they can be more innovative and daring...:(

It does have an interesting look to it. When you say sampling keyboard, I gather you meant the microsampler, not the SV1. I don't think SV1 has sampling capabilities.

I like the look of the SV1. I like the valve circuit - which is probably one of the more important parts of the keyboard. I would love to see how much difference the valve makes to the sounds.

One big limitation - 80 notes polyphony.

For those who have not seen the SV1 yet, here is it:

As for the microsampler, it's one interesting product. I totally agree! Korg seems to be ahead of the league in this category. Of course, Yamaha and Roland are better in other categories, butmy general feeling is that Yamaha is losing ground quite a bit. Korg is indeed more innovative.

That is why I love Korg!!! So many new (or old) toys to play with while making music...

I take back what I said - 80 notes is not a big limitation. 80 notes can a limitation for a stage piano - esp if you start layering and if the stage piano includes more than one element in a patch (ie 2 or more sounds triggered for every one note played in one patch). For the latter, it depends on the programming. Korg is not as bad as Yamaha. For Roland and Yamaha, 128 notes polyphony for the current more advanced (hence realistic) sounds is becoming the norm. Can't say for sure about the SV1. Perhaps the programming made up for it.
