Korg M50-73 vs TR61 vs X50 keybeds?

H guys,

For those who have tried the synths, need your comments on their keybeds. I own a TR61 and thinking to upgrade to M50-73. I'm quite ok with TR61's keybed feel, but do not like X50's keybed as it is very sensitive esp playing string or brass, u press abit harder then the volume surges. I read some reviews for M50 that the keybeds are not too good. How does it compare w TR61? Is it as good? Or it's more like X50's crappy keybed?

I own a M50 61, i personally don't like the keybed. I once own Triton LE, which is more like/or exactly the TR's keybed, I like it better than M50. But of course, it still depends on your own feel, touch and preference. But i can not or won't complain. I have a Motif XS6, way better, it's true, you get what you pay for. Go test it yourself, it's free.....

I went to Citymusic to try ytd n have to agree w u that TR61's keybed is better than M50-61's. I perrsonally own a TR61 n often perform w X50. I feel M50's keybed is similar to X50, quite bouncy esp after relrease, but the control n response is better, at least it won't surge up volume if u press abit harder. But M3-61 is best. Touch is gd, aftter release is quiet n smooth. Ya u really get what u paid for.

But the sound for M50 is really a huge improvement over TR series! Many of the piano patches are finally presentable n playable n nice! What a shame M50 doesn't have aftertouch which even the TR series have. This is really making me doubt whether to upgrade to M50 or not. Or I should wait n try to buy a 2nd hand M3 instead. But I really like the portability of M50. M3 is quite heavy w the board, unless I can just get the M3 module only...

There is a velocity curve setting on the global settings page of the M50. You might find a curve that suits your playing more. Obviously it wont help with the bouncy release.

It's crap how manufacturers are leaving off aftertouch. Even the cheapest midi controllers used to have it but now it's rare on low end models. The M50 synth responds to aftertouch via midi so it's just a cost cutting on the mechanical components.
